SSIS / ETL Developer
Summary
Layline Automation is seeking a dedicated and motivated SSIS / ETL Developer to join our dynamic team. This is a temporary, full time role, contract will be 6 months with the potential to extend. The ideal candidate will have excellent client-facing soft skills, a robust background in system integration, and strong SQL Server and Oracle database knowledge. This role demands a proficient developer with agile development experience, particularly within the technology or energy sector.
Primary Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and implement robust data migration solutions, specifically assisting in the migration from SQL Server 2012 to SQL Server 2022.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and debug SSIS packages to ensure high performance and reliability.
- Leverage .NET 8 knowledge to assist in building and updating applications, ensuring integration with SQL Server systems.
- Implement and maintain unit testing for SSIS packages and related database processes to ensure data integrity and reliability.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance .Net applications using C#, Asp.Net (MVC, Web Forms), and related technologies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
- Integrate software components and third-party programs, ensuring seamless operation and performance.
- Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing systems.
- Work with Agile methodologies, participating in sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.
- Design and develop web services, ensuring robust and scalable solutions.
- Engage with clients to understand requirements and provide technical support.
- Must be able to work 8 to 5 PST as needed, based on business / customer needs.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Extensive experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), including designing, implementing, and optimizing ETL workflows.
- Proficiency in SQL Server databases, particularly in migration projects (e.g., SQL Server 2012 to SQL Server 2022).
- Solid understanding of T-SQL for querying, database design, and performance tuning.
- Familiarity with data warehousing principles, data modeling, and schema design.
- Experience with data migration strategies, troubleshooting ETL processes, and ensuring data integrity.
- Knowledge of .NET development (preferably .NET 8) and integration of applications with SQL Server is a plus.
- Proficiency in C#, XML, XSD, and web services.
- Expertise in Asp.Net (MVC, Web Forms).
- Solid knowledge of SQL Server (2012/2008 R2/2005) with T-SQL and Oracle 11g with PL/SQL.
- Experience with SSIS and limited experience with SSRS.
- Familiarity with Entity Framework, LINQ to SQL, PowerShell, WCF, jQuery, AJAX, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
- Competence in Visual Studio (2013/2010/2008), SOAP UI, Websphere MQ, Subversion, and Perforce.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
Education and Work Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 5 years of proven work experience as SSIS / ETL / SQL Developer.
- Background in full stack development and system integration is a plus.
- Exposure to legacy system conversion is a plus.
- Experience with Java, Biztalk Server (2006/2002/2000), Visual Basic 6.0, Excel VBA, and MS Access is beneficial.
Physical Requirements
Work is typically performed in an environment, using simple, easy muscular movements, involving only the handling of light materials, tools, or equipment in easy work positions, and with no special speed requirements or long stretches of exertion. Vision requirements for this job include close vision and the ability to focus. Remaining in a stationary position and in front of a computer screen for prolonged periods will be necessary. Repeating motions such as typing, that may include wrists, hands and/or fingers are necessary.
