What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Office Receptionist position at Layous Medical Group?
In search of an experienced Medical Office Receptionist for growing pulmonary office. Must be kind, caring, and compassionate. Must be available to work late afternoons/evenings.
The front desk receptionist is responsible to provide high quality professional assistance to patients, doctors, health services professionals and others. The receptionist is the first point of contact for patients contacting and/or visiting the office and ensures inquiries are handled efficiently and courteously.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
- Welcome and greet patients and visitors to the office.
- Establish rapport with patients and family members to ensure they feel welcome and comfortable.
- Answer the phones, take detailed messages and transfer calls to the appropriate person while maintaining a polite, consistent phone manner using proper telephone etiquette.
- Schedule and confirm appointments.
- Collect payments and co-payments.
- Respond to patients, prospective patients, and visitor inquiries in a courteous manner.
- Responsible for keeping the reception area clean and organized.
- Register new patients and update existing patient charts by collecting detailed personal and financial information.
- Facilitate patient flow by notifying providers of patient arrival, being aware of delays, and communicating with patients and clinical staff.
- Keeps medical office supplies adequately stocked by anticipating inventory needs, placing orders and monitoring office equipment.
- Protects patient confidentiality by making sure protected health information is secured by not leaving PHI in plain sight and logging off the computer before leaving it unattended.
- Sort and distribute mail to appropriate staff.
- Maintain professional appearance and personal conduct at all times.
- Display a high level of communication and listening skills.
- Able to work well under pressure and high volume work environment.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school graduate (or GED) required
- MUST HAVE EPIC EXPERIENCE
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Knowledge of general administrative and clerical procedures
