What are the responsibilities and job description for the Clinical Educator position at Layton Surgery Center?
Job Summary:
To implement, promote and maintain active direction and oversight of education of staffing. To oversee and organize the skill sets and training requirements for all staff. To work collaboratively with staff and all departments to assure all the education requirements are in compliance with the facility standards.
- All the following staff must receive infection control education when new to the facility and at least annually.
- Medical Staff
- Allied Health Professionals
- Any staff providing direct patient care
- Staff responsible for medical waste disposal and storage, handling of soiled laundry, and/or use of chemicals
- Staff responsible for cleaning and disinfecting
- cleaning staff employees
- cleaning staff contractors, including use of personal protective equipment (PPE), use of cleaning products, restricted access, biomedical waste, and waste handling. Verification by the contractor of staff training on PPE and cleaning products is acceptable. However, the staff must be oriented to the restricted areas and storage specific to the Center as well as duties and responsibilities in the Center.
- All staff will receive education on hand hygiene and waste disposal.
- Education will include, as appropriate to their positions,
- Personal protective equipment
- Hand hygiene
- Waste disposal
- Safe medication handling, storage, access, and disposal
- Instrument handling, transporting, cleaning, disinfection, sterilizing, and storage
- Equipment and supplies
- Monitoring of compliance will occur to assist in selecting on-going educational needs. Education will occur more frequently than annually when monitoring indicates or when new products or processes are introduced.
