Survey Crew Chief -
Responsibilities:
Supervise and coordinate the work of field crews including technicians and assistants.
Conduct surveys using advanced equipment such as total stations, GPS devices, and drones.
Perform various types of surveys including boundary surveys, topographic surveys, aerial mapping including lidar and photogrammetry, and construction staking.
Prepare accurate sketches and detailed notes for all surveyed areas.
Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations related to land surveying practices.
Maintain comprehensive records of field work and submit reports to the project manager.
Train new crew members on survey techniques and equipment usage.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues that arise during surveys in a timely manner.
Coordinate closely with clients, engineers, architects, and other professionals as needed.
Qualifications:
3 years of experience as a Survey Crew Chief.
Proficiency in using GPS equipment, total stations, and modern surveying tools.
Strong understanding of legal requirements and best practices related to land surveying.
Excellent leadership skills with the ability to manage a team effectively.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, engineering plans, maps, and legal documents accurately.
Willingness to work overtime and travel out of state for 3 to 7 days at a time (with out-of-town bonuses).
Clean driving record and ability to pass a drug test. This position requires driving a company vehicle daily.
Additional Requirements:
Upon hire, complete OSHA 10 training and obtain CPR certification.
Possess or be capable of obtaining a Part 107 drone pilot license within 45 days (training provided by the company).
