We are looking for a Back-end AI Engineer to join our team to design, develop, and deploy advanced AI-driven applications and solutions to support Lazard’s Financial Advisory and Asset Management businesses.

We expect the base salary range for this role to be approximately $125,000-$145,000 USD. Various factors contribute to determining the actual base compensation offered, including but not limited to the applicant’s years of relevant experience, career tenure, qualifications, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, relevant skills for the role. Base salary is one component of Lazard’s compensation package, which also includes comprehensive benefits and may include incentive compensation.

We are looking for a Back-end AI Engineer to join our team to design, develop, and deploy advanced AI-driven applications and solutions to support Lazard’s Financial Advisory and Asset Management businesses.
We’ll trust you to
- Lead large-scale AI and machine learning projects that deliver actionable insights and drive innovation
- Collaborate closely with investment bankers, portfolio managers, research analysts, data scientists, software engineers, and senior management across the Firm to deliver impactful solutions
- Demonstrate passion and interest in cutting-edge AI technologies
- Be a curious problem-solver that can spot gaps and opportunities to improve our business with a strong focus on cloud-native solutions, generative AI, natural language processing, and predictive analytics
- Couple your advanced technical and domain expertise with ability to communicate complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Minimum 2 years of professional work experience post-undergrad developing large-scale machine learning/GenAI applications in a back-end focused role within a production environment is required
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate technical findings into actionable business strategies for bankers, investors, and other stakeholders
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Passion for building innovative, high-quality AI-driven products
- Deep knowledge of machine learning algorithms and experience in productionizing AI models
- Proficiency with frameworks for large language models (LLMs) such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, and VectorDBs
- Experience developing and deploying AI solutions using cloud platforms like Azure, AWS, or GCP
- Advanced knowledge of unstructured data processing, including NLP techniques (e.g., sentiment analysis, entity recognition, topic modeling, and retrieval-augmented generation)
- Experience working with AI Foundry and AI Search, leveraging advanced AI capabilities for data processing and retrieval
- Experience with agentic workflows to build intelligent, autonomous systems
- Proficiency in APIs and microservices frameworks like FastAPI or Flask
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes for managing containerized applications and ensuring scalable deployments
- Strong expertise in ETL processes like Prefect or Airflow for efficient data pipeline orchestration and workflow automation
- Proficiency in AWS and API Management (APIM) to ensure seamless cloud operations and secure API integrations
- Experience with relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB, ElasticSearch) for data querying and analysis
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning, or a related field
- US Citizenship or Permanent Resident status is required
- Ability to work in the office in 30 Rock (our NY Headquarters) at least 3 days each week
- Prior experience in the financial industry or a strong interest in finance
- Familiar with Databricks, Azure AI and Microsoft Copilot ecosystem
- Expertise in Python and frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, and scikit-learn
- Expertise in building advanced retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) systems and developing autonomous LLM agent workflows
- Familiarity with Data Fabric is a plus, enhancing data connectivity and accessibility across distributed environments
- Experience with real-time AI applications and stream processing frameworks
- Demonstrated success in delivering AI solutions with measurable business impact
