What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Worker -Pipe Coater - Straight Nights (Training on Day shift) position at LB Foster?
As a pipe coater, you are responsible for performing custom hand coating that is involved in the production of L.B. Foster steel pipe products while following standard work methods and practicing safe work habits to ensure production is efficient and safe. Production Workers are trained to work in all areas of production. This is a night shift role but will train on day shift (5:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.) for one month. Shifts can be from 8 to 12 hours long.
Responsibilities
- Follow all safe work practices and procedures.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area.
- Carryout verbal and written instructions from Foreman.
- Complete jobs in a timely fashion to ensure on time shipment.
- Lift raw materials, finished products, and packed items, manually or using hoists.
- Trained to complete pre-operation equipment inspections and report any issues identified.
- Trained to set up, adjust, and operate all basic machine tools.
- Read and interpret work instructions, then execute work per instructions.
- Work with quality and production teams to identify areas for process improvement.
- All other duties as assigned.
Experience & Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least 1 year of work experience in a production environment
Skills & Abilities
- Ability to wear all required PPE, including a respirator and work in a high temperature environment.
- Must be able to stand and walk back and forth for long periods of time.
- Must be able to carry up to 65 pounds and use small hand tools like grinders.
- Ability to accurately read a tape measure.
- Ability to work in a high paced environment while maintaining safety standards and following all safe work practices.
- A focus on prioritization, time efficiency, problem solving and teamwork.
- Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 40 pounds of force frequently, and up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Average proficiency in mathematics.
- Good visual acuity.
