What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Worker position at LB Foster?
As a Production Worker in our pipe coating plant, you are responsible for performing a variety of tasks involved in the production of coated pipe while following standard work methods and practicing safe work habits to ensure production is efficient and safe. Production workers are crossed trained in areas around the plant.
Responsibilities:
- Follow all safe work practices and procedures.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area.
- Carryout verbal and written instructions from Foreman.
- Complete jobs in a timely fashion to ensure on time shipment.
- Lift raw materials, finished products, and packed items, manually or using hoists.
- Trained to complete pre-operation equipment inspections and report any issues identified.
- Trained to set up, adjust, and operate all basic machine tools.
- Read and interpret work instructions, then execute work per instructions.
- Work with quality and production teams to identify areas for process improvement.
- Other manual labor jobs as required.
Experience, Education & License Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent, preferred
- At least 1 year of work experience in a production, labor environment, preferred
Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to accurately read a tape measure.
- Ability to work in a high paced environment while maintaining safety standards and following all safe work practices.
- A focus on prioritization, time efficiency, problem solving and teamwork.
- Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 40 pounds of force frequently, and up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Ability to work on in an industrial environment with walking, kneeling, bending and lifting required.
- Average proficiency in mathematics.
- Good visual acuity.
