POSITION SUMMARY :
Under the direction of the Senior Director Specialty Pharmacy, leads, supports and manages ambulatory specialty pharmacists, pharmacy liaisons and specialists, and functions in the development of enhanced pharmacy services related to specialty and hematology oncology. Ensures that the operational and clinical aspects of the respective specialty practice areas are in compliance with department policies and procedures, department mission and value statements, hospital core beliefs as well as any federal or state regulations pertaining to or governing pharmacy practice for the purpose of maximizing service and quality. In addition, ensures optimum patient outcomes related to medication use by preventing or resolving drug-related issues and optimizing the drug therapy of patients. Integrally involved in education of pharmacists, residents and students. Provides operational leadership and support to current and strategic growth of oncology and specialty services. Communicates strategies to deliver efficient, cost-effective, and quality patient care.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES :
Maximizes patient outcomes by optimizing both the operational and clinical aspects of care. Provides operational leadership and support to current and strategic growth of oncology and specialty services (including GI, Rheumatology and Infectious disease) for Boston Medical Center health system. Communicates strategies to deliver efficient, cost-effective, and quality patient care. Reports regularly to the Senior Director Specialty Pharmacy to ensure compliance with departmental quality improvement initiatives.
Clinical Programming
- Responsible for developing and expanding clinical pharmacy services within ambulatory specialty clinics collaborating with physician colleagues, and working with hospital and corporate leadership to obtain support for initiatives
- Be instrumental to creative thinking and be a leader in the initiation of new clinical programs in specialty area
- Develops and manages specialized projects using an interdisciplinary team of providers in the development of health system-innovations to improve patient care and reduce cost
- Contributes and participates in department and hospital committees
- Demonstrates leadership role in the teaching programs of the department of pharmacy services related to ambulatory care
- Facilitates outcomes research in hematology / oncology and specialty setting
- Identifies cost savings and revenue generating ideas through innovative methods within Hem / Onc and Specialty areas
- Oversee or delegate management of PGY2 Hematology Oncology or other specialty residency program

JOB REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION :
Work requires at a minimum a BS Degree in Pharmacy from an accredited college of pharmacy or doctor of pharmacy. A master's degree in related field (MBA, MPH, MS in pharmacy) is preferred but not required. Completion of specialized clinical residency in Hematology Oncology or other specialty settings preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED :
Work requires licensure to practice pharmacy in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts by the hire date.
Board Certified Oncology Pharmacist (BCOP).
Applicant can be licensed in another state and pending reciprocation.
EXPERIENCE :
Post-graduate training or at least two years of pertinent work experience. Must have work experience in providing direct patient care in Hematology and or Oncology and some leadership experience.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS :
Work requires a high level of analytical ability, organizational, and personal management skill to function as a role model and focus to ensure the concerted approach to clinical operations. Must also be able to evaluate current pharmacy services and procedures to improve them through an evaluative process.
Work requires a high level of interpersonal skills to relate to hospital healthcare personnel working cooperatively and collaboratively to resolve situations and problems, as well as effectively communicating and displaying leadership within and outside of the department.
Work requires a high level of computer skills including all Microsoft Office platforms.
