ABOUT THIS ROLE
We are seeking a Youth and Workforce Development Specialist to join our team and support the candidates in our workforce development programs, which includes adults, college, and high school students who are blind or visually impaired. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing development programs, recruiting participants, delivering engaging training sessions, and building partnerships with employers and community organizations. The ideal candidate will be passionate about helping individuals find meaningful work and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
LOCATION AND SCHEDULE
Durham, NC- Hybrid
Monday-Friday 7:30 AM – 4 PM
Up to 15% travel to schools in the Raleigh-Durham area to facilitate classes.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create and deliver programs that build confidence, skills, and career readiness for high school and college students who are blind.
- Deliver virtual and in-person classes on assistive technologies, professional skills, and technical trainings.
- Work with students to identify their skills and post-secondary preferences.
- Engage community partners and onboard program candidates.
- Coordinate and facilitate networking events.
- Maintain accurate records of students, candidates, and partner interactions in a database.
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure the success of students and candidates in our various programs.
- Coordinate and attend networking meetings, events, and activities to promote our programs and engage with potential employers.
- Track participant progress and gather feedback to improve training and program effectiveness.
- Develop partnerships with Vocational Rehab and Division of Services for the Blind agencies, and community organizations, such as community colleges, Public Schools, and other Youth Programs to promote our program.
- Collaborate with the marketing and communications team to host events and develop and distribute promotional materials, including flyers, brochures, and social media posts.
- Participate in business development activities to support program expansion and sustainability.
- Attend meetings, webinars, or conferences to identify potential employers and training trends and best practices which can be incorporated for continuous improvement of program offerings.
- Assist with ensuring that content is accessible and compliant for all people.
- Other duties and projects as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in education, social work, workforce development, technology, or a related field; OR equivalent experience in workforce development or training.
- Minimum m of 3-5 years of experience in youth development, workforce training, or program facilitation, preferably with individuals with disabilities.
- Proven experience in recruitment, program design, and virtual facilitation.
- Demonstrated ability to build and sustain partnerships with schools, community organizations, and employers.
- Experience delivering accessible virtual training using inclusive methodologies.
- Familiarity with assistive technologies, including screen readers, braille displays, and other accessibility tools.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and database management.
- Strong track-record of managing projects from beginning to end.
