Grading Foreman

LCI-Lineberger Construction Inc. is located in Lancaster, SC and provides heavy highway and civil contracting services in both North and South Carolina. The company specializes in a wide range of construction services including paving, reclamation, commercial site work, utility installation, asphalt manufacturing and trucking.

Job Summary:

Supervises field operations for construction grading and site projects. Directly supervises and coordinates activities of the grading and site preparation crews and may also engage in the trade work of the employees being supervised.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Supervises all phases of construction grading and site preparation operations including maintenance of equipment, employees and distribution of product.
• Knowledgeable and experienced in the operation of heavy equipment and in construction applications for dirt and site preparation projects.
• Ensures equipment is serviced, lubricated and in good working order.
• Communicates daily with Project Manager or Project Superintendent to discuss schedule and production needs.
• Plans, organizes, and coordinates daily activities and work assignments of the team.
• Maintains time and materials records necessary to complete daily job costing .
• Ensures the safety of crew members and the public who may interact with the job.
• Must have a basic knowledge of abilities and limitations in all applications. Ability to recognize potential problems before breakdowns occur.
• Adheres to company policies and procedures.
• Performs other tasks as needed.

• Qualification and Experience Requirements:
• Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
• Minimum of 5 years experience in grading and site work (Required)
• Minimum of 3 years experience in Foreman role (Required)
• Driver's license (Required)
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, contract specifications, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Computer knowledge and experience to report time, job costing, materials, etc. HCSS Heavy Job a plus.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers, employees and others.
• Excellent mathematical skills
• Critical thinking and complex problem solving skills.
• Ability to work in all weather environments.
• Ability to maintain constant alertness to the multiple concurrent activities of the construction site, including the activities of other employees, contractors, the operation of stationary equipment an the movement of mobile equipment.
• Education Requirement:
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
