What are the responsibilities and job description for the Engineering Intern IV position at LCRA?
Under close supervision of a licensed professional engineer, performs entry level engineering assignments by assisting with engineering projects and design work.
- Under direct guidance, work on the development and design of a Microsoft Power BI environment dashboard utilizing various mapping tools and SQL databases for monitoring electrical substation assets.
- Develops solutions or improvements, and / or verifies accuracy of data. Ensures accurate and beneficial data is acquired and recorded.
- Maintains knowledge of engineering principles. Studies and attends classes on LCRA safety policies, procedures, equipment, and systems. Develops analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Conducts reviews of substation equipment to determine operating characteristics and interprets engineering specifications.
- Investigates and analyzes basic problems and develops appropriate solutions. May be assisted by craftsmen, technicians, or experienced engineers.
- Gathers engineering information by occasionally traveling to various field locations (substations, power plants, etc.) Conducts field analysis, inspections and performance tests. Records, compiles, and reports information as necessary.
- Prepares framework documentation, operation manuals, and project timeline details.
- May assist more experienced engineers in the involvement of engineering challenges, troubleshooting, or equipment failure events.
