What are the responsibilities and job description for the GMS Administrator II position at LCRA?
Maintain knowledge of the ERCOT dispatch protocols, as well as support compliance with local, state, and federal reliability and cyber security standards.
Interact with ERCOT, power plants, market participants, and vendor personnel to coordinate and configure data and control communications using telecommunication (ICCP, MODBUS, and DNP) protocols.
Interact with LCRA IT infrastructure to configure computer systems and troubleshoot problems and incidents.
Support the compilation of real-time data and respond to data requests from market operations, settlement, and engineering groups.
Monitor real-time system conditions and support investigations of grid events.
Participate in the development, testing, deployment, support, and maintenance of new SCADA / GMS devices, applications, databases, and operator displays.
Participate in the development, testing, and deployment of real-time GMS calculations, and custom monitoring and automation tools.
Monitor system statuses, operations, performance, and event logs, and develop mastery of system level architecture, system configuration, and system operations.
Update system with security, operating system, and application patches. Analyze anti-virus configurations and perform periodic vulnerability scans.
Serve as a contributor in managing GMS incidents, problems and anomalies including recognition, analysis and resolution. Assist with root cause analysis, control change management and utilize effective communication practices.
Provide administrative support of GMS applications, databases, communications, and workstation and server operating systems. Review system information parameters, processes.
Ensure awareness and provide input into ensuring GMS is compliant with NERC, FERC and ERCOT Security Critical Infrastructure Protection Standards.
Provide support for system backups, system restorations, and system fail-overs during standard business and non-business hours.
You qualify with :
Six or more years of experience in operations or administration of a SCADA / GMS or real-time monitoring and control system or relevant experience.
A degree(s) in electrical engineering, computer science, information technology, or relevant field may be substituted per LCRA guidelines for certain years of experience.
