LCRA is looking for a Substation Electrician to join our team that builds the crucial infrastructure of Central Texas! As a member of our Substation Maintenance team, you will have the opportunity for advancement in your career by applying on the job training and certification programs, available to you as a part of your progression. Our ideal candidate will be highly motivated and a great teammate. You will work on complex tasks in a variety of locations including the Service Center and Substations throughout our service area. You Will Be Trusted To

  • Install, maintain, remove, inspect, test, and repair electric motors, generators, electrical circuit breakers, condensers, transformers, switches, communication systems, and electrical and electronic control equipment and wiring.
  • Locate and repair failures in electrical and electronic circuits and equipment; install test apparatus on all electrical equipment and implement solutions to electrical and electronic control system problems.
  • Install and maintain lighting, and other types of electrical equipment at power plants, communications facilities, substations, pump houses, dams and other locations.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance and general upkeep of electrical and electronic equipment and test gear.
  • Read/interpret blueprints and drawings, consult manuals, parts lists, etc., to assist in performing work. Keep drawings and schematics up to date and accurate.
  • Operate handheld manual tools and power tools in performing electrical tasks.

You Qualify With

  • Two or more years of experience in maintenance and/or construction of electrical power, transmission, distribution, substation and control equipment, and/or other types of electrical equipment, including experience reading blueprints. A degree(s) in electrical power theory, electronics, instrumentation, controls, industrial maintenance or relevant field may be substituted per LCRA guidelines for certain years of experience.
  • Class A Texas commercial driver’s license
