What are the responsibilities and job description for the Benefits Manager position at LCS?
This position is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day administration of benefits for LCS corporate employees and Life Care Services Employment community benefits. This includes ensuring adherence to timelines, applicable laws, and regulations. This position will play a key role in assessing benefit offerings for competitiveness and costs.

The Role:
- Administer and manage employee benefits programs for LCS employees and through the Life Care Services Employment entity for our community employees. This includes health, dental, vision, life insurance, retirement plans, wellness initiatives, and other ancillary benefits.
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations related to benefits.
- Works closely with the Finance, Accounting, and Payroll teams to ensure plan accounting, employee deductions, employee accounts, employee statements, and employer plan costing are accurate.
- Participate in the research, analysis, development/revision, and implementation of employee benefit and retirement programs designed to maintain the company’s objectives and competitive position in the marketplace.
- Collaborate with HR, Payroll, and external benefits vendors to ensure accurate and timely processing of benefits.
- Manage the annual open enrollment process, including employee communications and system updates.
- Oversee retirement programs. Acts as Plan Administrator and ensures completion of annual retirement plan audits, non- discrimination testing, and regulatory filings.
- Analyze benefits utilization and costs to recommend improvements and cost-saving opportunities.
- Serve as a liaison between employees and benefits providers to resolve issues and ensure exceptional service.
- Oversee the reconciliation and billing processes for all benefits provider billings and preparation of documents for payment of invoices. Billings may include but are not limited to: medical and dental and medical admin fees, COBRA, Flexible/Health Savings accounts, life and disability, and administration fees. Perform complete audits of provider billings.
- Assist with onboarding of new communities and providing education to employees on benefits eligibility and plan options.
- Develop and deliver training programs on benefits and leave policies for managers and employees. Responsible for the effective management and leadership of a team. This includes, but is not limited to: hiring, training, coaching, evaluating and managing performance, allocating compensation, effectively handling employee relations issues, managing terminations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 6-8 years of experience in benefits administration.
- Strong knowledge of FMLA, ADA, ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, and other relevant regulations.
- Experience using HRIS and benefits management systems.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism. Certification in benefits or HR management (e.g., CEBS, PHR, SHRM-CP) preferred.
