OVERVIEW
An estimator with all the responsibilities and abilities of an Estimator I, responsible for accurate proposals on simple and complex structures. An Estimator II understands typical and complex connection types and is comfortable working with incomplete design documents. This role is proficient in using all our established tools and templates.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Produce accurate quantity take-offs and proposals of basic structures such as warehouses, distribution centers, and low-rise office buildings
- Quantity take-off using Tekla EPM
- Understand specifications and can determine proper finish(es)
- Complete estimate summary sheets to be reviewed by others
- Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers and review their scope
- Create proposals utilizing LeJeune Steel standard templates
- Complete bid forms and scope sheets from customer
- Attend scope reviews as needed with sales lead
- Proficient in semi-complex structures such as data centers, hospitals, and high-rise structures with a variety of moment connections, brace frames, plate girders, and trusses
- Provide any breakout pricing and alternates required
- Complete design assumptions when drawings are incomplete
- Complete simple budgeting exercises working with incomplete documents
- Assist with training and reviewing the work of an Estimator I
- Complete complex Change Order estimates, including responsibilities listed above
QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous experience in structural steel not required, but must display a willingness and ability to learn
- Self-motivated and strong time management skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to understand construction documents, including bid manuals, scope documents, plans, and specifications
- Basic Tekla EPM, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Blue Beam skills preferred
- Associates or Bachelors degree preferred
