Le PasSage is a new luxury Southeast Asian-French inspired restaurant on the Katy Trail Travis Street Hospitality Group and Chef Bruno Davaillon. The Terminal at Katy Trail is additionally home to new sister concept The Rose Cafe, an all day French-Asian inspired Cafe. Travis Street Hospitality currently owns and operates Le Bilboquet, Knox Bistro, and Georgie with Frenchie opening later this year. We are growing and looking for exceptional talent.

Who you are:

An integral member of the restaurant’s Service team, the Sommelier is responsible for providing our guests with a memorable wine, sake, and overall beverage experience and helping the Beverage Director ensure the excellence of the beverage program. The Sommelier is trusted partner to fellow sommeliers, bartenders, and service staff and acts as an extension of the Beverage Director, aiding in service and operation of the wine and beverage program along with assisting service as a dedicated team member. This position assists the Beverage Director in the creative direction of the beverage program, and does not have autonomy.

What you’ll do:

  • Partner with the Beverage Director to create and maintain an enticing wine program that enhances the guest experience.
  • Provide guests with a memorable experience by providing guidance and suggestions of wine and beverage selections.
  • Help deliver a financially responsible wine program that results in increased sales and maintains an inventory that is in-line with the restaurant’s revenue and business levels.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and a wide range of skills and knowledge in all service positions and an eagerness to continue to learn and grow.
  • Assist the service team in running food, bussing tables, polishing, and all other functioning operations of service
  • Exhibit unreasonable hospitality. Be obsessed with luxury dining, guest experience, and professionalism.
  • Have complete knowledge of products, how the restaurant operates, and Travis Street Hospitality service standards.
  • You are an expert on all aspects of service, fine dining, and hospitality. Study. Learn. Grow.
  • Teach and develop others in the restaurant as a peer staff member. Sommeliers have likely worked through and held every other position in Dining Room. Pass your knowledge and lead those coming up the ranks.
  • Every guest is looking for an experience, Tailor that experience for them into the perfectly Bespoke dining experience.
  • Serve with high intentionality. Make eye contact, smile, listen, and anticipate needs.
  • Ensure extraordinary table maintenance, coordinating with all dining room staff to ensure TSH Standard Operating Procedures are executed efficiently.
  • Operate as a member of the team and work together as one unit. Assist in any other areas requested.
  • Maintain the guest check throughout the evening and ensure all items are listed on the final bill prior to presenting to the guest. The check must be complete and accurate.
  • Perform all assigned side work before, during, and after service.
  • Communicate the needs of the guests to the kitchen and management — I.E. style outs, VIP status, dietary restrictions, ect.
  • Help build guest and VIP relationships and profiles, actively adding notes in regard to their dining experience and preferences to RESY.
  • Ensure responsible alcohol service and carding of guests that appear to be underage. When in doubt, card them.
  • Further details and responsibilities may be added at the discretion of management.

What we need from you:

  • 2 years experience as a Sommelier or wine service role CMS Certified or WSET 3 Preferred, CMS Intro or WSET 2 required
  • Decent knowledge of and a willingness to study and teach about Asian beverages and pairings (Sake, Shochu/Soju, Awamori)
  • Strong knowledge in wine, sake, spirits, beer, and N/A beverages
  • English fluency with strong communication skills verbal and written
  • Ability to stand or walk for long periods of time
  • Ability to repeatedly lift cases of product that are roughly 50 lbs
  • A strong attention to detail and a passion for organization
  • A commitment to continuing education that extends beyond service hours
  • Dedicated time to study outside of service hours
  • Strong Computer skills especially in Microsoft Word and Excel

Wine and Sake oriented responsibilities:

  • Work with the Beverage Director in sourcing product
  • Work with the Beverage Director in curating wine pairings and expanding the bottle listing
  • Educate staff on products and grow our library of education material.
  • Update inventory with incoming deliveries using the correct item listing protocols
  • Verify correct pricing and noting any changes
  • The tracking of corked wines and following up with vendors for credits with the Beverage Director
  • Manage products and their refrigeration and storage needs properly
  • Assist the team in pouring pairings and selling wine, sake, shochu, BTG and by the bottle
  • Conduct wine inventory
  • Assist in ordering by placing reorders of established items.
  • Assist in the creative direction of the wine, sake, shochu list while in direct communication with the Beverage Director. *this is not a total control wine buying role

  • Assist in suggesting cocktail pairings for guests
  • Attend and assist in spirits-oriented training

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $2.13 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
