Position Summary:
The Electro/Mechanical Technician provides on-site support and technical assistance with various electro-mechanical products, equipment, and systems.
Primary Responsibilities and Duties:
- Responsible to maximize uptime of manufacturing machinery, equipment, and/or facilities by proactively tracking, inspecting, servicing, maintaining and calibrating to prevent potential breakdowns.
- Exercises a high level of independent decision making to perform complex troubleshooting, installation, design, modification, fabrication, repair, assembly, calibration, moving, alignment, rebuilding, testing and inspections on a broad range of complex tools, equipment and facilities; including electronic, electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electronics, PLC, computer controls, robotics, automation, machinery, motors, controls, etc.
- Installs new equipment or upgrades and provides routine maintenance to ensure function and uptime.
- Develops detailed service reports to document service visits, issues, and troubleshooting actions and logs and tracks maintenance activities.
- Works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function.
- Utilizes computerized software to record, track and analyze data and write reports and communications.
- Requires the ability to easily and effectively utilize specialized measurement instruments, written and computer accessed work orders, schematics, blueprints, wiring diagrams, manufacturers and Company equipment manuals and procedures to effectively draft, communicate and recommend improvements, establish effective preventative maintenance procedures, diagnose problems, and recommend future repairs.
Minimum Education: Effective Computer use, High School Diploma or equivalent, read and understand English language work instructions. May require successful completion of specific education, training, or certifications.
Preferred Education: A two-year technical or equivalent degree
Minimum Skills/Experience: one year in a similar position, mechanical aptitude, effective computer use, basic Math skills, independent decision-making, and effective self-management.
Preferred Skills/Experience: Above plus - Three to five years of relevant experience. Strong Computer and math skills, 2 or more years on the job instruction and/or apprenticeship programs, and strong mechanical aptitude demonstrated through success at increasingly more complex assignments. Welding competency.
Functional Requirements
Consistently able to:
- Manually lift and move product and materials up to 50 lbs. through regular physical exertion, including but not limited to reach forward, reach overhead, lift, carry, crouch, and bend
- Power grip and wrist turn, including the use of hand tools and/or steering fork truck
- Walk, sit, or stand for up to 12 hours with intermittent breaks
- Push/pull up to 100 lbs.
- See, inspect, handle and evaluate product quality
- Read and understand written English language work instructions
- Work in non-climate controlled environments, including hot and humid conditions
- Climb ladders and stairs of varying heights
