What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tool Maintenance - 1st shift (6am - 2:30pm Monday- Friday) 2 positions available position at Le Sueur Inc.?
The Position:
The Tool Maintenance Technician is responsible for disassembling, polishing, cleaning, and replacing inserts in tools, as well as reassembling them and setting them up in various molding machines.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Sets up and operates standard tool room equipment, such as lathes, milling machine and grinders to machine parts for die casting equipment.
Makes repairs and changes to die casting dies.
Works from blueprints and drawings; uses precision measuring tools; makes slides, ejector pins, cores, and pinions.
Cleans die cavities with abrasives, makes gate changes; removes drag, straighten cores, drills water lines, etc. Analyzes difficulties and diagnoses repairs needed.
Repairs dies while still set in the casting machine; grind in overflows and gates.
Changes unit dies.
Removes castings stuck in dies; dismantles and reassembles dies.
May make the more complicated repairs on trimming tools. May occasionally operate a forklift. Inspects for quality, defects, and deviations from specifications.
Responsible for quality of work and to appropriately resolve unusual operating conditions. Willingly modifies work schedule and duties to accommodate Company needs.
All other duties as assigned. May require successful completion of specific education, training or certifications.
Education & Experience Requirements:
Minimum: High School diploma and 1-2 years of experience within a manufacturing environment. Ability to demonstrate problem solving and mechanical troubleshooting skills. Ability to perform repetitive pushing and sliding of tool plates and tool inserts. This position requires repetitive hand, wrist, and grasping of objects with fingers for extended periods of time.
Preferred: 2-3 years of experience working as a tool technician within a manufacturing environment.
Functional Requirements
Routinely able to:
- Manually lift and move product and materials up to 50 lbs. through regular physical exertion, including but not limited to reach forward, reach overhead, lift, carry, crouch, and bend
- Power grip and wrist turn, including the use of hand tools and/or steering fork truck
- Walk, sit, or stand for up to 12 hours with intermittent breaks
- Push/pull up to 100 lbs.
- See, inspect, handle and evaluate product quality
- Read and understand written English language work instructions
- Work in non-climate controlled environments, including hot and humid conditions
- Climb ladders and stairs of varying heights
