Position Title: Safety and Security Officer
Classification: Non-exempt
Department: Facilities
Reports To: Director of Facilities
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Safety and Security Officer is responsible for ensuring a safe and secure environment by patrolling the premises, monitoring access to premises and maintaining the safety and security of our valued staff, patients, visitors, and the hospital property. They enforce security measures, respond to emergencies, manage parking, and provide administrative support. This role reports directly to the Safety Officer.
Starting Wage: $22.00/hour
The posted wage is the current starting wage for this position. Actual wage is dependent on the applicant's relevant experience and qualifications for this position. The wage range for this position may be subject to change in the future depending on a variety of factors such as market conditions, business needs, legal developments, and other appropriate factors.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Certification/Licensure:
Current State of Hawaii Guard License and BLS certification.
Completion of competencies and other job-related and REHAB requirements.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent
Skills/Experience:
Strong situational awareness and problem-solving abilities.
Effective written and verbal communication.
Customer service and basic computer knowledge.
Ability to adapt to emergencies and stressful situations.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Certification/Licensure:
Valid Hawaii driver’s license, IAHSS certification.
Skills/Experience:
Six months as a Security Guard
One year in customer service, hospital security, or parking security.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Enforce security plans and procedures, and adherence to all hospital and department policies and procedures
Patrol hospital grounds to ensure all areas are secure and responds promptly to emergencies and threats using communication devices (e.g., radios, pagers).
Escort personnel when necessary and handle unauthorized persons.
Manage access control equipment (keys, ID badges, parking gates).
Complete daily logs, incident reports, and work requests.
Demonstrate positive communication and exceptional customer service.
Maintain patient confidentiality and respect their rights and preferences.
Work flexible hours and ensure compliance with hospital policies.
Uses sound judgment and ensures patient safety.
Follows and adheres to all organizational and departmental policies and guidelines, code of conduct, and REHAB employee handbook.
Performs other duties as assigned.
