ABOUT THE SUMMER INTERNSHIP:
Duck Creek's Summer Internship program is from May 19, 2025 - August 8, 2025. The program is intended for current students in the South Carolina regiontaking coursework in related fields to gain practical work experience in their area of study. Our engaging intern program includes opportunities to connect with company leaders, partner with peer interns, all while advancing skillsets related to outlined project-based work.
WHAT WE WILL CALL THIS POSITION: Software Engineering Intern
WHAT YOU’LL DO: The Software Engineering Intern will design, code, and/or configure solutions for low complexity Agile stories, as well as debugging and resolving low software bugs or issues under close guidance and direction.
As a Software Engineering Intern, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks and responsibilities, including but not limited to:
- Designing, coding, and/or configuring solutions for low complexity Agile stories based on high-level conceptual designs, with reviews provided by more senior software engineers.
- Debugging and resolving low complexity software bugs or issues with guidance from more senior software engineers, identifying the root cause and providing fixes without collateral damage.
- Writing automated unit and integration-level tests, as well as performing source code management tasks at the direction of more senior developers.
- Following development standards, demonstrating technical solutions in code reviews, and developing an understanding of Duck Creek Policy, Billing, Claims, Engagement (AP), or Data Insights.
- Developing an understanding of estimating the Software Product Development Lifecycle using Agile methodology.
WHAT YOU’VE DONE:
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in computer science, Computer Information Sciences, and/or related field
- No work experience is necessary, but is a plus if within the software industry
- Understands Object-oriented design and implementation in Java, .NET or Python. Relational OLTP queries and Relational database design.
- Understanding automated testing frameworks like Cucumber, SpecFlow, etc. (preferred, not required)
- Understands JavaScript development, HTML5 & CSS (preferred, not required
- Proven ability to manage deadlines, communicate in a team, and operate independently with guidance
WHAT ADDITIONAL INFORMATION YOU MAY WANT TO KNOW:
Hybrid Commitment: Approximately 2 days per week in office, located at our Columbia, SC Office.
Work Authorization: Legally authorized to work in the country of the job location. The company does not sponsor visa petitions now or in the future for this role.
