DATA PRODUCT OWNER
As a Data Product Owner, you will:
Define and maintain a data product roadmap that aligns with business objectives, balancing short-term needs with long-term strategic priorities.
Partner with senior business and technology stakeholders to prioritize data initiatives through a structured stage-gate process, ensuring business value, feasibility, and readiness.
Drive adoption of enterprise data capabilities by aligning data products with business domains.
Advocate for data quality, governance, and accessibility, ensuring the organization has trusted, actionable data assets.
Own and maintain the data product backlog, ensuring features and enhancements are prioritized based on strategic alignment and business impact.
Collaborate with Data Engineering, Analytics, and Technology teams to refine user stories, define acceptance criteria, and ensure smooth execution of data initiatives.
Drive iterative delivery of data assets, ensuring usability and performance align with business needs.
Define and track key data product success metrics, ensuring measurable value creation from data initiatives.
Serve as the bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams, ensuring clear communication and alignment on data priorities.
Educate stakeholders on best practices for data consumption, self-service analytics, and data governance policies.
Champion a culture of data-driven decision-making, helping business teams leverage data effectively.
Responsibilities:
Ensure data solutions meet the needs of the business by bridging the gap between business needs and technical capabilities.
Run Change Boards and maintain a strategically aligned roadmap.
Define sprint goals and manage team backlog items with a focus on delivering business value.
Lead elicitation of requirements in the form of user stories and acceptance criteria.
Conduct stakeholder interviews and facilitate workshops to ensure alignment on goals and vision.
Regularly refine program backlogs, ensuring features are ready for upcoming sprints.
Participate in planning, contributing to story definition, estimates, and sequencing.
Lead system demos and workshops to drive continuous improvement.
Oversee the Product release process in collaboration with QA, IT, Business teams.
Take ownership of processes from start to finish, ensuring that the team delivers expected outcomes that align with stakeholder expectations.
Qualifications:
8 years of experience as a Data Product Owner, Data Product Manager, or Data Analyst, with a focus on data platforms, analytics, or AI/ML, preferably in the insurance industry.
Strong understanding of data architecture, data modeling, ETL processes, and data governance best practices.
Experience working with a Data Lake and Data Warehouse within a cloud environment, familiarity with modern data platforms (AWS preferred) and BI tools (Tableau, Power BI).
Proven ability to collaborate with senior business stakeholders to define, refine, and govern a data roadmap that supports strategic decision-making.
Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to constructively challenge, question, and actively listen.
Strong understanding of commercial insurance data, including underwriting, claims, actuarial, and financial reporting use cases.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business or related field.
