The Senior Underwriter for Architects & Engineers (A&E) Professional Liability plays a critical role in driving profitable growth and maintaining underwriting excellence within the A&E market segment. This role requires deep industry expertise, strategic thinking, and strong analytical and interpersonal skills to position Coaction as a premier provider of A&E liability solutions. The Executive Underwriter will be responsible for shaping underwriting strategy, establishing measurable production goals, and fostering
relationships with key brokers and distribution partners. You will serve as the subject matter expert on emerging trends, regulatory changes, and risk exposures unique to the A&E sector, ensuring that Coaction's product offerings remain competitive and relevant. Additionally, you will lead and mentor underwriting staff, promoting technical excellence, sound risk selection, and adherence to underwriting guidelines. This position requires a proactive approach to navigating market dynamics, identifying growth opportunities, and supporting the development of innovative solutions tailored to the evolving needs of A&E firms.
Job Responsibilities
- A&E Risk Analysis & Underwriting: Assess, evaluate, and underwrite complex risks specific to architecture, engineering, and design firms, ensuring profitable growth and adherence to underwriting guidelines.
- Market Leadership: Position Coaction as a market leader in A&E Professional Liability by staying ahead of industry trends, competitive pressures, and client needs.
- Broker Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key brokers, acting as the primary point of contact for A&E-specific submissions, negotiations, and product education.
- Team Leadership & Development: Mentor and guide underwriting team members on technical underwriting concepts, risk analysis, and industry-specific exposures related to A&E firms.
- Product & Appetite Development: Collaborate with product development and actuarial teams to refine Coaction's A&E underwriting appetite, enhance product offerings, and address emerging coverage needs.
- Strategic Growth: Drive profitable growth within the A&E portfolio by identifying new business opportunities, evaluating distribution strategies, and implementing targeted marketing plans.
