Oncology Senior Strategic Account Lead (Sr. SAL)
We have a current opportunity for an Oncology Senior Clinical Trial Liaison in our Medical Solutions Division. We are partnering with one of our top global clients building this new team. Purpose of Role
The Sr. CTL/SAL identifies and leads clinical trial awareness initiatives, accrual support activities, and initiative-taking planning for the patient experience throughout the study – all in support of clinical trial site stakeholders that are participating in a particular clinical trial. The goals of the Sr. CTL/SAL are to accelerate clinical trial accrual, foster a positive experience and strong site engagement throughout the study execution, and to accelerate trial completion.
The US Senior Clinical Trial Liaison (Sr.CTL/SAL) is a member of a field-based team of site relationship experts and serves as a subject matter expert coach to peer CTL/SALs on the team and strategic partner for internal leadership.
Individual contribution (70%): The role focuses primarily on support of HCPs located at clinical trial sites that are conducting a pharmaceutical sponsored clinical trial. A primary goal of the Sr. CTL/SAL includes fostering a positive relationship between the site and the pharma sponsor personnel by ensuring site issues are managed promptly with escalation, responsiveness, and resolution as quickly as possible, including strong internal communication and collaboration. The Sr. CTL/SAL provides education to HCP’s that includes trial design, inclusion/exclusion criteria, potential patient profiles and provides helpful resources and tools that support HCP’s working on a particular clinical trial, from study start-up through study completion.
Strategy contribution (10%): The role serves as a strategic partner to internal leadership, providing subject matter expertise in the therapeutic area and in the context of clinical trial accrual in community oncology. The role will represent the broader CTL/SAL team on internal calls to participate in strategy-formation and to allow the other CTL/SALs as much time on external-facing account-facing activities vs. internal meetings.
Coaching contribution (20%): The role serves as a coach to peer CTL/SALs on the project, offering support, guidance, and collaborative thinking on items such as site-level issues and needs, problem-solving, and refinement of tactics aligned to strategy. In addition, fosters best practice sharing among the full team of. CTL/SALs to promote nimble adjustments and timely execution of initiatives.
Key Accountabilities:
- Leading pre-approved initiatives related to raising trial awareness including educating HCPs about a particular clinical trial.
- Leading pre-approved initiatives related to potential patient finding and recruitment efforts for a particular clinical trial.
- Gathering insights from external HCP’s and healthcare team stakeholders to inform project and program strategy and plans. Generate new ideas and recommendations in support of driving clinical trial awareness, clinical trial accrual acceleration, and fostering positive clinical trial site relationships and engagement in the clinical trial.
The core responsibilities of the strategy and coaching roles are:
- Serve as strategic partner to client internal leadership and in internal forums to assist in strategy formation and input into project tactics.
- Provide meaningful insights from the CTL/SAL team, analyze insights to generate meaningful recommendations, and actively identify new opportunities for client consideration to contribute to acceleration of the clinical trial accrual and completion.
- Spend time with peer CTL/SALs to understand their account priorities and tactics, to assist with problem-solving, to assist with communication both internal and external, to refine tactics and to encourage collaborative thinking that results in next best actions and impactful initiatives led by each CTL/SAL.
- Foster best practice sharing for fast adoption of best practices application to other sites.
- Serve as the first point of contact for account-level issue escalation with potential to resolve before the next step escalation to client stakeholders.
Clinical Trial Awareness & Support
- Support initiatives to identify potential patients for the client clinical trial; acting as a liaison between sponsor/client personnel and study sites (e.g., visit/meet with trial center staff to provide education on clinical trial, maintain high level awareness/visibility of the clinical trial, enhance enrollment rate, and foster patient retention).
- Deliver protocol/trial-specific education to specific HCP stakeholders within trial site accounts with a focus on making it easy for sites to identify potential patients for screening and enrollment.
- Serve as an ambassador for the client study in the external environment. Develop client presence in the US market to optimize study accrual, including participating in or facilitating execution of pre-approved community-level forums such as community education events.
- Facilitate and/or provide relevant pre-approved education topics at Site/account level meetings, such as tumor boards, account-level research meetings, and/or other forums.
- Function as field-based resource for client, keeping current on account-level stakeholders, account-level opportunities for client engagement, and knowledge of the local healthcare environment and opportunities to engage in support of the clinical trial.
- Consult closely with the relevant study teams and client field teams.
- Provide weekly updates via CRM platform and other forums to ensure internal communication channels are strong.
- Maintain timely input of site needs, insights, feedback utilizing client CRM and other forums for effective communication and urgency in site issue resolution.
Clinical Acumen
- Provide accurate and non-promotional information relating to the clinical trial, with a focus on study design patient population, and inclusion/exclusion criteria.
- Answer questions related to clinical trial design using in-house developed and approved resources and follow escalation processes to appropriate client personnel (i.e., MSL, SM, CRA).
- Keep up to date with training on clinical knowledge, published data and trial work for the client and competitive product studies as required.
Study Site Personnel Engagement
- Develop relationships with Study Site personnel, including non-PI physicians, APP’s, and other study site personnel (i.e., Pharmacist, Nurse Navigator, Reimbursement Specialist, Nurse Manager, Lab Manager, Marketing) to engage in education about the specific clinical trial as applicable to their role in support of potential patient identification.
- Ensure requests received from site personnel are managed efficiently and effectively according to established processes and ways of working document and timely communication via established training/systems/documentation.
- For each assigned account, identify opportunities that support education about the clinical trial, working to foster trial awareness across the account (outside of research team) and in the community or around the clinical trial site.
- Ensure pull through of key initiatives with site stakeholders/care team members to include education of the pharmacist, nurses, nurse navigators, marketing, EHR, and lab stakeholders regarding the clinical trial design, patient population, and education about potential patient type to foster identification of potential patients for pre-screening for the clinical trial.
Cross Functional Support
- Respond to inquiries from internal colleagues.
- Develop and deliver insights and recommendations to internal working groups/internal stakeholders.
- Carefully gather insights and information from KOLs and report back to company to inform company strategy and plans.
- Coaching peer CTL/SALs in support of account-level issue management, problem-solving thought partner, and development of next best action.
- Sharing best practices across/SAL team and internally with client stakeholders.
- Represent the voice of the customer and the CTL/SAL team as part of strategic planning calls led by the client, providing input, insight, recommendations, and suggestions to accelerate accrual and drive meaningful relationships and support of the clinical trial sites.
Compliance
- Operate in a highly ethical manner and comply with all laws, regulations, and policies.
- Build & promote on the image and professionalism of both Amplity and client.
- Complete mandatory training in assigned timelines upon hire as well as when new policies, SOP’s, guidance are issued.
- Ensure compliance with SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and other relevant guidelines/processes on an ongoing basis.
- Respond to requests for information and reporting of AEs in line with company procedure.
Essential Knowledge and Experience
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited University or College required with an advanced clinical degree preferred.
- MSL (Medical Science Liaison) or equivalent medical affairs/clinical operations experience e.g., CRA (Clinical Research Associate) preferred, with Clinical Trial background.
- Oncology experience required; lung cancer strongly preferred.
- Clinical Trial Enrolment experience required.
- Background working with or for community oncology sites.
- Experience leading a team or a cross-functional working group.
- Experience leading initiatives in support of patient accrual for clinical trials preferred.
- Knowledge of clinical trial design, conduct and evaluation, clinical trials experience and understanding of clinical trial methodology and management.
- Adept with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Excellent technical skills with meeting platforms including Zoom, Teams, and others.
- Willingness to travel 50% or greater weekly as needed.
- Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record required.

Employees can expect to be paid a salary of approximately $200K - $215K. The salary rage displayed may vary based on market data/ranges, an applicant's skills, prior relevant experience, certain degrees, certifications, and other relevant factors.
