Strategic Advisory Overview
At Brown Advisory, the Strategic Advisory team serves as Brown Advisory’s thought-leaders for long-term strategic planning for clients and collaborates with Private Client Portfolio Managers to develop and execute plans for individuals and families on a wide range of issues, often in coordination with clients’ outside advisors. Strategic Advisors deal comprehensively with income and tax planning, cash-flow planning, trust and estate advisory, retirement planning, lending advisory, trustee services, family business transfer, pre-liquidity planning, generational asset transfer, handling specialty assets, insurance advisory, philanthropic advice, and family office services.
Program Description
Brown Advisory is seeking a motivated, team-oriented student to participate in a 6-month co-op program. Through participating in this entrepreneurial and project-based program, the student has the opportunity to gain exposure to Strategic Advisory services at the firm. Duties and responsibilities:
Provide Strategic Advisory support within a client team for a broad array of individual, family and trust portfolios, subject to the special needs of each client Assist in the management process of client relationships in coordination with the Strategic Advisory and Private Client teams
Learn and utilize our Financial Planning software to help with cash flow modeling and capital sufficiency analysis
Contribute to the creation of core deliverables on the Strategic Advisory team by developing balance sheets and graphical estate plan summaries for key clients
Coordinate presentations of the firm’s Strategic Advisory capabilities, including developing content for prospective clients and their advisors
Organize timely and relevant content for internal and external audiences in coordination with broader team
Stay abreast of major tax or legislative updates that impact the families we work with
Demonstrate an interest in developing knowledge of personal tax, estate planning, retirement savings strategies, philanthropic planning, and various investment strategies
Act as self-starter capable of operating independently with a high level of direct responsibility, while maintaining strong ties to the Strategic Advisory team
Students will be provided the opportunity to travel to other Brown Advisory office locations as needed by the business.

Qualifications:
We are seeking students on their second co-op (candidates must have already successfully completed their first co-op in order to be eligible for this opportunity).
Balanced resume with a demonstrated record of achievement, such as extracurricular activities or leadership
Entrepreneurial mindset as well as the ability to proactively identify, execute, and manage projects of interest
Excellent communication and presentation skills with an exceptional attention to detail
Genuine interest in private wealth management, financial planning, and investing
Minimum GPA of 3.0 and a demonstrated record of academic achievement
Ability to work our Boston office, five days a week
