Job Description
INTRODUCTION:
The ideal Collections and Cash Applications Manager has Software as a Service (SaaS) and/or payments industry experience in an international company using multiple (9 ) billing platforms. The Collections and Cash Applications Manager will be responsible for monitoring the accounts receivable aging, ensuring timely and complete collections through a team of collectors located in multiple countries, and applying cash timely and correctly.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Manage a team of collections/cash applications specialists using multiple software programs (including Workday, Recurly, Salesforce Billing, Chargebee, and proprietary systems) to ensure customer balances are being collected timely and risks are escalated
- Grow the team to support global business growth
- Coordinate with Client Management and third-party collectors
- Issue customer refunds timely, in coordination with billing and accounts payable
- Monitor and report Collections metrics to leadership, including Controller and CFO, and other stakeholders
- Provide data for cash flow forecasting
- Work with Billing team to answer customer inquiries related to invoices
- Provide audit-quality support for collections and accounts receivable testing
- Support project to migrate billing activities to reduce the number of billing platforms, including providing feedback to the development and Revenue Operations teams and updating procedures accordingly
- Develop team members to help them meet their career goals
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
- 10 years of relevant experience, including at least 5 years in collections in a high-volume and multi-platform environment
- Experience managing a high-functioning, multi-location team
- Global experience (i.e. working with English-speaking customers and employees in a variety of countries)
- High-volume, recurring service experience, with a strong preference for SaaS and/or payment processing
- Familiarity with allowance for doubtful accounts principles per US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Familiarity with indirect taxes (VAT, GST, etc.)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, including at least intermediate Microsoft Excel
- Professional communication skills and a collaborative mindset
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to make sound decisions and take calculated risks
AND IT'S GREAT TO HAVE:
- Recurly, Chargebee, or similar subscription billing platform experience
- Workday ERP experience
- Experience understanding accounting system functionality and working with developers to optimize and/or create new functionality
- B.S. or B.A. in Accounting or related field
- Experience with payment processing and/or software-as-a-service industries
- Mergers & Acquisitions experience
- Private equity background
