Job Summary:
The Automotive Detailer cleans and refurbishes new, used, and service vehicles, following Company and/or manufacturer specifications and time allowances.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Greet and welcome all customers in a genuinely friendly and courteous manner. Assist all customers promptly and professionally.
- Restores the appearance of vehicles to new or likenew condition to the best of your ability.
- Install disposable seat covers, steering wheel cover, and floor mats in vehicles arriving for service.
- Applies wax to auto body, and wipes or buffs surface.
- Washes vehicle exterior, cleans interior and exterior windows, and wipes down doorjambs.
- Vacuums interior of vehicles to remove loose dirt and debris.
- Cleans upholstery, rugs, and other surfaces, using appropriate cleaning agents, applicators, and cleaning devices.
- Applies revitalizers and preservation agents to interior vinyl or leather surfaces and treats fabrics with spot and stainresistant chemicals.
- Cleans engine and engine compartment with steamcleaning equipment and various cleaning agents.
- Applies specialpurpose cleaners to remove foreign materials which normal cleaning procedures do not remove, utilizing experience and judgment and following product manufacturer's recommendations.
- Inspects vehicles for noticeable defects, such as dents, scratches, torn upholstery, and poor mechanical operation.
- Restores appearance of engine area, rugs and upholstery, and painted surfaces.
- Uses touchup paint, dyes, and other appropriate materials as needed.
- Uses proper eye, hand, and body protection when using products that require protection.
- Fills vehicle with fuel.
- Applies dressing on tires and tire wells.
- Responsible for preparation and applications of vehicle protection packages.
- Replaces missing or defective small parts.
- Maintains showroom and stock vehicles in clean and presentable condition at all times. Ensures proper stickers are displayed in the vehicle's window.
- Removes all window stickers on sold vehicles.
- Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner.
- Immediately reports to management any situation or condition that jeopardizes the safety, welfare, or integrity of the Company, its employees or customers.
- Use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for your position and the job duty at-hand, and promptly notify your supervisor should appropriate PPE be unavailable.
- Report to management any situation, interaction, or condition that jeopardizes the safety, welfare, or integrity of the Company, its personnel, or customers.
- Complete all environmental, health, and safety trainings required by the Company through regularly accessing the appropriate software (KPA, Compli).
- Adhere to all Company and manufacturer policies and programs governing environmental, health, and safety practices.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Basic automotive knowledge required.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Past automotive detailing experience preferred.
- Experience using a buffer and carpet extractor preferred.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Must utilize effective time management skills and demonstrate the ability to prioritize and handle multiple assignments at one time.
- Must have exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
Valid driver’s license required for essential job functions and occasional travel.
