Job Summary:
The Sales Consultant is responsible for providing an exceptional customer purchasing experience. The Sales Consultant will ensure the customer gets all the information they are looking for, as well as presenting vehicles to customers to assist them in their buying decision. They utilize the Customer Management System (CRM) to ensure timely, professional follow-up and to maintain strong relationships with sold and prospective customers. The Sales Consultant is responsible for selling and leasing new- and used- vehicles at the Company standards for gross profit, volume and customer satisfaction.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Greet customers in a prompt, friendly and professional manner, and offers assistance or direction to any customer who enters the showroom or sales lot.
- Acts as ambassador on behalf of the Company. Becomes absolute product knowledge expert.
- Completes profile sheet, silent walk around and demonstration drive with every prospect. Utilizes one the most current forms of Sales Proposal Sheet.
- Sells and leases and delivers a minimum of 10 units per month and keeps a 12-unit 90-day average for participation in any sales contest.
- Assists customers in selecting a vehicle by asking questions and listening carefully to their responses. Explains fully product performance, application and benefits to prospects.
- Describes all optional equipment available for customer purchase.
- Offers test drives to all prospects. Follows the Company procedure to obtain proper identification from customer prior to test drive.
- Delivers vehicles to customers, ensuring that the customer understands the vehicle’s operating features, warranty and paperwork.
- Maintains frequent contact with manufacturer and other vendors to ensure a thorough knowledge of current leasing, sales and incentive programs.
- Offers customer a follow-up visit (at the Company or off-site) to review vehicle’s options.
- Ensures that every customer is completely satisfied with the delivery and performance of their vehicle. Establishes procedures for addressing customer concerns or complaints promptly.
- Maximizes the profitability of each sale by offering vehicle accessories and aftermarket services. Utilizes prospecting and follow-up system.
- Exhibits high level of commitment to customer satisfaction.
- Knows and understands the federal, state and local laws which govern retail automotive sales.
- Establishes personal income goals that are consistent with the Company standards of productivity and devises a strategy to meet those goals.
- Utilize the Salesperson Daily Work Plan to follow-up with prospective customers and maintain relationships with current customers ensuring their needs are met.
- Schedule customer appointments daily.
- Attends product and sales training courses as requested by management.
- Keeps abreast of new products, features and accessories and their benefits to customers. Ensures that a manager has an opportunity to meet each customer.
- Provides support for the Preowned Sales Manager/General Manager and President as requested.
- Attends product and sales training courses as requested by the Preowned Sales Manager and General Manager.
- Turns 100 percent of closed deals to finance, along with properly completed paperwork (insurance information, trade title, etc.)
- Writes complete sales orders and processes paperwork in accordance with established dealer policies.
- Delivers vehicles to customers, ensuring that the customer understands the vehicle’s operating features, warranty and paperwork.
- Introduces customers to service and parts department team members following Sales 2 Service process. Emphasizes to them the quality and efficiency of service repairs and maintenance available in the Company’s service department.
- Follows up on all post-delivery items, tag/title work, “we-owes” and special requests to be sure that all customers’ expectations are met.
- Maintains an owner follow-up system that encourages repeat and referral business and contributes to customer satisfaction.
- Maintains a prospect development system.
- Obtain all appropriate licensing as required by state law (if applicable) following the states written policy.
- Assist with training assigned salesperson for 60 days daily on the Company’s sales process, including role- play, product demonstrations and product quizzes to ensure Sales Representatives are well versed in the sales process and manufacturer product knowledge.
- Communicate regularly with program coordinator and submit monthly meeting and activity information. Attend mentor trainings as necessary.
- Reviews and analyzes actions at the end of each day, week, month and year to determine how to better utilize time and plans more effectively.
- Adheres to all standards as required by our manufacturers and the Company. Maintain appearance and cleanliness of vehicle lot and showroom.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- General sales and customer service experience preferred.
- Must have knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for service and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
- Must have the ability to establish productive, cooperative relationships with customers, vendors, co- workers and management.
- Must be self-motivated with a competitive spirit and strong work ethic.
- Must have the ability to communicate effectively with people in an articulate manner. All necessary factory training must be maintained.
- Travel to other affiliate Company locations along with our manufacturer’s training and other relevant training courses required.
- Must maintain a valid driver’s license for occasional travel requirements and have the ability to operate manual transmission vehicles.
- A professional appearance and manner consistent with Company culture must be maintained.
