Job Summary:
The Parts Counterperson assists customers with automotive parts inquiries and sales, delivers parts to wholesale businesses, and maintains an organized inventory by processing vendor invoices and managing perpetual inventories. They ensure a friendly and professional customer experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist customers with parts selection in a friendly and professional manner.
- Provide price quotes and inform customers of specials and companion parts.
- Pull and fill orders from stock, and notify relevant parties when special orders arrive.
- Locate out-of-stock parts and submit emergency orders if necessary.
- Manage inventory, replenish stock daily.
- Process payments, issue credits, and ensure proper documentation of sales.
- Maintain orderly records of repair orders, invoices, and special-order parts.
- Set up orders for shipment, delivery, or pick-up, and solicit accounts by phone.
- Keep work areas neat and clean, participate in training, and stay updated on new products.
- Pulls customer special orders, making sure all parts are tagged with customer names and job number. Tags and labels warranty parts and documents on repair order.
- Interact with Service Team to coordinate parts for vehicle repair and service.
- Makes sure all internal requests for parts are billed on service repair order or to a stock number. Receives payment from retail customers or obtains credit authorization.
- Assist with all other duties of parts department including delivery as needed, based on coverage.
- Maintains a professional appearance.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Parts experience preferred.
- Must have knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards of service and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
- Must have excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office and Excel. Must have excellent communication skills and phone manners.
- Must be professional and maintain a professional appearance. Must be honest and ethical.
- Must possess the ability to managing one’s own time and multi-task.
- Must possess the ability to meet and deal with the public, service technicians, service advisors and all other employees of the Company.
- Must possess the ability to communicate information and ideas both verbally and in writing so others will understand.
- Must possess the ability to accept criticism and deal calmly and effectively with high stress situations. Must possess the ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
