Human Resources Generalist Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY:
- The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for maintaining and enhancing the organization's human resources by planning, implementing, and evaluating employee relations and human resources policies, programs, and practices. Analyzes company programs and policies to ensure compliance with legal requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Administer necessary paperwork.
- Answers questions regarding eligibility, payroll, benefits, and other pertinent information.
- Assist with employee relations.
- Assists with wage changes approval process through recommending, planning, and implementing pay structure revisions.
- Compiles reports as requested.
- Conducts the day-to-day efficient operation of the HR office.
- Creates, maintains, and updates job descriptions for all positions with assistance of employees, managers, and supervisors.
- Drafts communications for the organization.
- Ensures legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resource federal and state requirements; conducts investigations; maintains records; represents organization as needed.
- Maintains Employee Policy Manual by preparing, updating, and recommending human resource policies and procedures.
- Ensures planning, monitoring, and appraisal of employee work results by training managers to coach and discipline employees; assists in scheduling and conducting job evaluations and management conferences with employees, hearing and resolving employee grievances; counseling employees, managers, and supervisors.
- Maintains employee benefit programs and informs employees of benefits available.
- Maintains human resource staff job results by counseling and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
- Maintains organization staff by establishing processes for recruiting and interviewing; counsels managers on candidate selection; conducts and analyzes exit interviews; recommends changes.
- Performs filing duties, and ensures the organization follows proper record retention procedures.
- Prepare badges, passes, and identification cards, and perform other security-related duties.
- Prepares employees for assignments by establishing and conducting orientation and training programs.
- Processes and maintains historical human resource/employee records including new hire paperwork, training records, employee injury paperwork, OSHA logs, performance appraisals, and terminations.
- Serves as a backup for processing payroll.
- Serves as the organization's Affirmative Action Officer and Equal Employment Compliance Officer by updating the Affirmative Action reports for the organization; monitors, evaluates, and promotes Affirmative Action program.
- Special projects as assigned by the President, Controller, or Corporate Human Resources Team.
- Supports the Leader Tech Safety Program
- Supports Quality Auditing and Continuous Improvement projects within the organization.
