What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Inspector position at Leading Edge Composites?
Leading Edge Composites, www.Lec-Composites.com located in the Highlands Corporate Park in Coatesville, is a full service, fully integrated design, engineering and manufacturing firm specializing in Aviation, Aerospace and Defense.
We are looking for hard working individuals to join our team. We currently have available a Quality Inspector opening.
How you will spend your time as our Quality Inspector:
- Perform continuous visual inspections at workstations, verifying processes are being followed as per instructions and resulting product meets specifications
- Notify Project Manager if there is a scrap rate higher than the standard scrap percentage on the Work Order, if cycle times are not met, or if there are issues found during process verification
- Ensure all production and quality samples are provided at each workstation as applicable, before or at the time of start-up. Return all samples to designated locations at the end of production runs.
- Maintain a daily QA log for any pertinent information related to production issues and/or changes
- Perform a walk-thru of the clean room, reviewing parts and communicating any issues or changes throughout the day
- Identify, segregate, and process suspect product or materials as per procedure and participate in sorting or reworking the same when required. Continual communication in these instances is required for production purposes.
- Utilize inspection tools such as height gauge, pin gauges, calipers, micrometers, scales another other inspection equipment, and understand their applications and proper use
- Maintain all controlled document files and test records in a timely and accurate manner
- Inspect several times a day critical equipment and instrumentation to ensure proper operation and calibration
- Assist in the writing and updating inspection procedures, protocol and checklists
- Evaluate problems, make initial recommendations for possible corrective action to supervisor
- Identify, record, and take corrective action on defective products as specified per ISO procedures
- Review blue prints, drawings, specifications, customer quality clauses and then document requirements for Inspection Test Plans
- Verify and properly store all required paperwork including certifications, test date, etc. as listed on the purchase order. This includes entry of documentation into the Quality System software.
- Work as part of an inspection team to address constraints in incoming and final QC work flow.
- Assist in keeping the inspection department compliant with all ISO/AS9100 requirements on a continuing basis
- Initiate MRB process for nonconforming product or materials
- Perform other duties as required.
You will be successful if you have the following:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 3-5 years’ experience in manufacturing quality environment or 3 years in a regulated industry or aerospace quality environment
- Meticulous attention to details both in documentation and reporting of results
- Must have good written English and verbal communication skills
- Good arithmetic skills are required
- Working knowledge of measurement instrumentation
- Ability to read manufacturing blueprints
- General mechanical aptitude
- General proficiency of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
- Desired Skills/Qualifications:
- Experience with AS9100, ISO13485, or equivalent regulated industries is a plus
- Safety management/experience a plus
- ASQ CQI certification a plus but not required
