Requirements:
- Must hold a Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) certificate
- Must hold a Certified Flight Instructor Instrument (CFII) rating
- Must hold a current FAA Medical Certificate (Third Class or higher)
- Ability to reliably commute to our facility in Loveland, CO
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening
Preferred Qualifications:
- Multi-Engine Instructor (MEI) certification (strongly preferred)
- Prior experience in airline, corporate, military, firefighting, or other advanced aviation operations
- FAA Gold Seal Flight Instructor or similar recognized instructing achievement
Skills:
- Exceptional communication and teaching skills, with a passion for aviation education
- Strong mentorship and leadership qualities to guide students and fellow instructors
- In-depth knowledge of FAA regulations, safety procedures, and best practices
- Excellent flying skills and professionalism (a true stick-and-rudder expert)
- Self-motivated and able to work independently while fitting into a team-oriented culture
- Detail-oriented, with a strong work ethic and commitment to going above and beyond
Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality flight and ground instruction on an as-needed, flexible basis
- Conduct aircraft checkouts for new renters or pilots transitioning into new aircraft
- Perform stage checks or mock checkride evaluations to help prepare students for their exams
- Serve as a mentor to students and less-experienced instructors, sharing real-world insights and guidance
- Assist in reviewing and improving training curricula and materials, contributing your expertise to enhance our programs
- Optionally instruct a select few student pilots (primary or advanced) based on your interest and availability
- Uphold the highest standards of safety, professionalism, and compliance in all training activities
- Represent Leading Edge Flight Training positively within the local aviation community and at occasional events or seminars
Compensation:
- Hourly pay for flight and ground instruction (competitive contract rate, commensurate with experience)
- Paid per instructional hour with no minimum guarantee (workload is based on your availability and student needs)
- Not eligible for overtime pay (independent contractor status)

Schedule: The schedule for this role is fully flexible. There are no required minimum hours or fixed shifts—you choose when you are available to instruct. Whether you have one weekend a month or several afternoons a week free, we will coordinate training sessions to fit your availability. Our flight operations run 24/7/365, giving you and your students the freedom to schedule lessons during weekdays, weekends, or evenings as convenient. This position is perfect for a professional pilot balancing another career or anyone who desires to stay involved in flight training on their own terms while maintaining the highest standards of instructional excellence.
