Clinician Job Description
A Clinician is a healthcare professional that is responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients' health care concerns and issues. The environment of this position includes patients with developmental and intellectual disabilities. This role plays a pivotal role in patient care by utilizing medical knowledge and clinical skills to improve and/or maintain health outcomes. Clinicians may often collaborate with other healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive and effective treatment plans. Clinicians need to stay current with advancement in medical science and maintain a person-centered approach in their practices and assessments.
Responsibilities/Duties
- Assess patients by performing comprehensive assessments, including vitals and observing symptoms.
- Diagnose participants by identifying medical conditions and provide a prognosis.
- Treat, develop, and implement treatment plans, which may include medications, therapies, and/or medical procedures.
- Monitor participants by tracking progress and adjust treatments as needed.
- Educate participants and their team about health conditions and prevention.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as nurses, doctors, and therapists.
- Maintaining accurate records and documentation, including medical history and test results.
- Adherence to health care standards and regulations, including Federal, State, and DHHS policies and procedures.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a healthcare related field
- Advanced degree in a relevant medical field
- Certification in clinical skills and practices
- Clinical experience and advanced education in relevant medical field
- Valid Clinician license
