Job Title: Buyer/Planner
Reports To: Supply Chain Manager
Location: Wichita, KS
Job Summary: We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Buyer/Planner to join our team. This role is critical to ensuring the seamless planning and procurement of materials to support our operations. The Buyer/Planner will dedicate to larger portion of their efforts to materials planning and a smaller portion to purchasing activities, working collaboratively across departments to maintain supply chain efficiency and meet production goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Materials Planning :
- Develop and maintain accurate materials requirements planning (MRP) schedules to ensure the timely availability of materials for production.
- Monitor inventory levels and conduct demand forecasting to prevent shortages or overstock situations.
- Collaborate with production, operations, and other relevant teams to align material availability with production schedules.
- Identify and mitigate risks in material supply by analyzing lead times, demand fluctuations, and supplier reliability.
- Track and report on key metrics related to inventory management and planning performance.
- The ability to effectively manage perishable materials within the planning function is strongly desired, as it ensures optimal inventory levels, minimizes waste, and supports seamless production schedules.
Buyer Activities:
- Source and procure materials, components, and services from approved suppliers while ensuring cost efficiency, quality, and delivery timelines.
- Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers to achieve favorable agreements for the company.
- Develop and maintain relationships with existing and potential suppliers to foster reliability and collaboration.
- Address supplier performance issues and resolve discrepancies related to quality, delivery, or invoicing.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures in all purchasing activities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field or equivalent experience.
- Proven experience in materials planning, procurement, or a similar supply chain role.
- Strong understanding of MRP systems, inventory management, and procurement processes.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in ERP/MRP software and MS Office Suite.
- Ability to manage priorities effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Candidates with experience in handling time-sensitive materials will be given preference.
