Volleyball is already the #1 most played girls' youth sport. There are 38M current and former players today. Of major sports, it's the only one that is women-first (~90% of players are female). The Role:
The Role:
We are seeking a Director of Volleyball Operations (DOVO) , which involves supporting the team by handling logistics and operations, ensuring smooth communication and coordination between coaches, athletes, visiting teams, and internal staff. The position entails fostering strong relationships with vendors, the public, and the volleyball ecosystem, ensuring optimal service, and maintaining a welcoming environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Information and Event Management
- Assist with logistical and support aspects of team and staff.
- Go-to person for athletes and coaches with questions, concerns, and inquiries.
- Point of contact for visiting teams.
- Manage and plan team events, meals, functions, appearances in coordination with appropriate central and city staff.
- Manage all aspects of team operations and facilities
- Coordinate team times for practice courts, weight room, video room, storage and sports medicine room needs.
- Team Liaison for facility scheduling with club and local operations staff.
- Schedule competition weekend practices for visiting team(s) and home team.
- Manage team calendar with central staff and distribute/update calendar with appropriate personnel/athletes through Teamworks.
- Oversee team travel
- Coordinate all travel including hotel reservations, flight arrangements (with travel agent), ground transportation, meals, etc. and in coordination with Head of Pro Volleyball Operations.
- Ensure all members of the team travel party are properly ticketed and provide support with gate information, travel delays, and baggage check-in as needed.
- Produce and update all Teamworks itineraries for team travel; and work with external vendors to ensure seamless travel (i.e. charter bus company, hotel, meal providers, etc.)
- Coordinate team meals and snacks during travel, working with coaches and athletic trainers to ensure dietary needs are met for each athlete.
- Responsible for the city travel budget and ensuring travel expenses remain in budget.
- Team training responsibilities
- Manage all team needs for training and access: court & equipment set-up, towels, laundry, and building access.
- Understand practice plans and ensure all equipment and operational functions are assigned for practice drills/activities.
- Organize the ordering, receiving and distribution of all equipment, apparel, training equipment, volleyballs, and other needs with central staff.
- Personnel Management:
- Oversight of Team Manager and Coach Enhancement Program participants.
- Designate assignments/game duties for training and home and away competitions.
- Manage scheduling for appropriate coverage.
- Partnership and relationship management
- Build effective partnerships with vendors/sponsors and co-workers by sharing appropriate information and providing assistance when needed.
- Ensure optimum service to all internal and external partners and the public in response to all requests for service and information.
- Maintain an environment that is welcoming to all.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- The ability to manage multiple tasks, coordinate events, and keep track of various schedules (team, travel, practices, etc.) is crucial.
- Clear communication with athletes, coaches, visiting teams, vendors, and internal staff is important. This includes being a go-to person for inquiries and concerns.
- Ability to troubleshoot and quickly address logistical issues or last-minute changes, especially with travel, event planning, or facilities.
- Managing travel arrangements, team equipment, and facilities requires a high level of precision to ensure everything runs smoothly.
- The ability to prioritize tasks and manage tight timelines, especially when coordinating travel, events, or training schedules.
- Creating positive relationships with external vendors, sponsors, and internal team members is key to maintaining smooth operations.
- Working well with various stakeholders, including athletes, coaches, and central staff, is necessary for effective teamwork.
- Comfortable with tools like Teamworks for scheduling and communication.
- Experience in supervising team managers or other staff, assigning duties, and ensuring appropriate coverage.
- Ability to handle different aspects of operations at once, from event planning to team training logistics, while adjusting to changing needs or schedules.
- Being responsible for tracking and maintaining the team’s travel budget, ensuring costs are kept within limits.
- Responding promptly to requests and providing excellent service to both internal and external partners.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
- Position requires nights and weekends for home and away competition and training. Position will travel with the team to away competitions.
Location:
Atlanta during the Pro season (October through April), hybrid off-season. There is no relocation package.

The annual base salary for this role is $80,000, plus our comprehensive benefits package. Actual compensation to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based on geographic location, work experience, education and/or skill level, among other things.
