League School for Autism is an award winning, year-round program dedicated to the education of children on the autism spectrum. Our team approach to education creates a collaborative, supportive, and open environment within our community. We are currently seeking a DIRECTOR OF RESIDENTIAL EDUCATION for our program in Walpole. This is a year-round position with evening and occasional weekend hours.
Position Requirements:
•Master's degree and three to five years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
•Previous experience developing programming in the special education residential setting a plus.
•Safety Care, CPR and First Aid certifications (will provide training)
•Valid driver’s license
•Must pass rigorous background checks, including nationwide fingerprint screening.
Supervision Received: Chief Operating Officer
Supervision Exercised: Subordinate supervisors
Basic Function:
Under the supervision of the COO, the Director of Residential Education is responsible for the development and implementation of a therapeutic and educational residential environment and for the implementation of residential goals with a focus on training.
Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
1.Develop and monitor the implementation of programming for areas including, but not limited to, communication, activities of daily living, personal care, and leisure skills.
2.Assess the training needs of the Residential program:
a.Train staff to teach skill development and community integration.
b.Train staff to assist individuals in meeting their personal care such as toileting, bathing, and assisting with nutritional needs.
c.Train staff to develop IEP objectives and document student progress.
3.Work with the Director of Education, Director of Clinical and Quality Assurance, and Manager of Training & Teacher Mentoring to develop and implement clinical and educational training programs.
4.Ensure the delivery of educational and clinical/behavioral services to the residences.
5.Monitor the quality of the program by ensuring daily activities and programs are coordinated and the environment is maintained on a day to day basis.
6.Participate in interviewing, selection, hiring and training new employees.
7.Coordinate with the Administrative, Educational, Behavioral, Allied Health, and Clinical management teams to provide input on program development and strategic planning.
8.Ensure cross programmatic cooperation and implementation of residential goals, Student Support plans, etc.
9.Ensure the provision of services is delivered to all students and families in a respectful and dignified manner. Students should receive educational services in an environment free of abuse and neglect and with respect to their human rights.
