The Front of House (FOH) Team Member is responsible for delivering a welcoming, memorable experience through friendly, professional, and enthusiastic service. This role is cross-trained in all FOH functions, including greeting guests, guiding them through our food, wine, and coffee offerings, and ensuring a clean, organized environment for daily service and special events. They will engage guests by describing menu offerings, winemaking techniques, and venue details while promoting the sale of wine, food, retail merchandise, and non-wine products. They will responsibly prepare and serve beverages and culinary dishes, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience. FOH Team Members will assist with service operations such as setting tables, bussing, food running, restocking, and maintaining cleanliness while accurately handling inventory and transactions. FOH Team Members are responsible for completing all required side work, maintaining the cleanliness of the entire space, and following proper sanitation practices to ensure efficiency and smooth service. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, enjoys fast-paced environments while multi-tasking, is team-driven, passionate about hospitality, and dedicated to creating a warm and engaging atmosphere for every guest.
Essential Job Functions
- Greet guests warmly and provide knowledgeable recommendations on food, wine, and coffee.

- Guided guests through the menu, answered questions, and ensured a seamless dining and tasting experience.
- Develop and maintain a strong understanding of our wine offerings, including varietals, tasting notes, and production methods.
- Educate guests on wine and food pairings, making thoughtful recommendations based on their preferences.
- Stay up-to-date on seasonal menu changes and how they complement different wines and beverages.
- Assist in training new team members on wine selections and food pairings.
- Participate in wine tastings and staff training to enhance product knowledge and improve guest experience.
- Operate coffee machines and related equipment, including steaming milk and executing latte art.
- Mix drinks and specialty beverages according to company recipes.
- Check guest identification to verify age requirements for alcohol service.
- Follow all liquor regulations, including prohibitions on serving minors and intoxicated guests.
- Execute all opening and closing procedures, including setting up and breaking down stations.
- Operate the POS system to process transactions accurately, including cash and credit card handling.
- Support all FOH functions, including food preparation, food running, table setting, bussing, and restocking supplies.
- Assist with event setup and breakdown
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in all areas, including dining spaces, bar, storage areas, restrooms, and patio.
- Clear, sanitize, and reset tables promptly.
- Clean and sanitize areas using established practices and procedures
- Maintain bar cleanliness, including counters, sinks, utensils, and storage areas.
- Follow all sanitation and safety protocols, including proper handling of tableware, glassware, and trash disposal.
- Bag and haul any trash to designated dumpsters
- Practice safe working habits and take required rest breaks and meal periods in a timely manner
- Stock and replenish bar and retail inventory, ensuring all items are properly labeled and priced
- Communicate clearly with guests, coworkers, and management.
- Conclude the dining experience by acknowledging and thanking guests for their choice of restaurant and inviting them to return
- Obtains revenues by totaling charges, issuing bills, accepting payments, delivering bills and payments to the host, and returning change or credit card and signature slips to guests.
- Report any guest concerns, account updates, or operational issues to management.
- Participate in scheduled training classes and seminars.
- Assist with special projects or work at other venues as needed.
- Operate all company vehicles at an appropriate speed and with caution
- Perform any other tasks as assigned by management to ensure smooth operations.
Qualifications
Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies:
- Must be a minimum of 21 years of age
- Have at least one year of related experience to include hospitality, sales, and/or customer service.
- Possess basic wine knowledge.
- Possess basic coffee knowledge.
- Outgoing personality, positive attitude, and strong communication skills.
- Be willing to serve and entertain guests according to the perceived atmosphere and expectation of guests.
- Must be flexible and available to work a varying schedule to include weekdays, weekends, evenings, holidays, split shifts, and extended hours as business needs dictate
- Excellent verbal communication skills and positive interpersonal skills required
- Must possess and maintain a current California Food Handler Certificate
- Must possess and maintain a current ABC-approved California Responsible Beverage Server (RBS) Training Certificate
- Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills are required. Communicate professionally both in person and on the phone
- Maintain a neat, well-groomed appearance in compliance with the dress code
- Must be able to accurately use time-tracking software and operate the point-of-sale (POS) system.
- Ability to work under pressure and remain calm
- Ability to anticipate customer needs and respond appropriately
- Ability to work in a team environment, work cohesively with co-workers, and perform duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with company policies

In accordance with California law, the expected pay rate for this California position is $20.00/per hour tips. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
