Quality Engineer
Overview
A leading manufacturer is developing a new line of carbon/carbon brakes to serve the aircraft aftermarket. We are seeking a skilled Quality Engineer to join our team, contributing to optimizing production processes while ensuring efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
The candidate will support technical teams in brake development, engineering, qualification, and testing by auditing, developing, and improving processes to ensure compliance with customer and company quality system requirements.
Job Duties
- Develop and implement quality/inspection plans for engineering and manufacturing projects, ensuring alignment with customer and industry standards.
- Conduct risk assessments to identify potential quality issues in manufacturing processes, materials, or suppliers and implement proactive mitigation strategies.
- Evaluate, approve, and maintain vendor performance based on quality criteria, including capability assessments and quality management system audits.
- Validate customer purchase orders and ensure project-specific quality flow-down requirements are met.
- Prepare documentation and reports in compliance with regulatory standards, including AS9102 First Article Inspections.
- Oversee document and record control processes.
- Create and maintain instruction sheets for inspection procedures for hardware and assemblies.
- Perform inspections using various metrology techniques and equipment.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve product conformity issues and build constructive working relationships.
- Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement and efficiency, including team training.
- Lead quality improvement projects, including root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with safety and environmental guidelines to promote a safe workplace.
- Support cross-departmental collaboration to ensure the smooth flow of quality products.
Qualifications
- U.S. citizenship or Permanent Resident status.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, Technical Science, or equivalent.
- 3–6 years of experience with ISO 9001 or AS9100 quality systems.
- At least 3 years of experience as a Quality Engineer or QC Inspector in aerospace applications.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other essential software tools.
- Minimal travel requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong interpersonal skills for interaction with customers, suppliers, and internal teams.
- Experience with:
- GD&T, CNC machining, and metrology methodologies.
- Drawing interpretation and close tolerance inspections.
- Preparing inspection plans and conducting AS9102 First Articles.
- Materials certification and specification compliance.
- Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills, including proficiency in trigonometry and geometry.
- Familiarity with Quality Assurance and Statistical Analysis software (e.g., Minitab, JMP).
- Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies.
- Ability to thrive under deadlines in a dynamic environment.
- Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) credentials are a plus.
Salary : $80,000 - $100,000
