Summer Work Program Admin Support
Position Type: Seasonal, Part-Time
Start & End Dates: April 22 or 29 - June 20 (8-9 weeks)
Hours: 10 hours/week
Availability: Flexible days to be set with Supervisor (Mon-Thurs); 5 hours virtual, 5 hours in-person
Pay Range: $18-$24/hour Reports To: Program & Family Outreach Coordinator
Location: LEAP Salem office
ABOUT LEAP: LEAP for Education (LEAP) is a non-profit organization that empowers underserved youth to achieve social and economic mobility by cultivating personal, educational, and career growth.
ABOUT SUMMER WORK PROGRAM: LEAP’s Summer Work Program is a 6-week program for students aged 14-19 to get early job experience, explore their interests, learn how to set goals, and build their long-term career readiness skills.
Program Goals:
- Provide students with high-quality career development experiences that foster positive connection to peers, employers, mentors, and the larger community
- Support the development of key soft skills through workshops and applied learning
- Engage students in projects that connect to a career of interest
JOB SUMMARY
Provide administrative support for the Summer Work Program staff leading up to the start of the program. The administrative support staff member is responsible for assisting in students’ onboarding process including the dissemination of hiring paperwork and communicating with families regarding students’ employment status.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Support student onboarding
- Collecting required program paperwork
- Monitoring of administrative spreadsheets to track student onboarding process
- Assist in family and student outreach
- Monitoring of a SWP support email
- Supporting the Program and Family Outreach Coordinator
- Implementing the SWP outreach plan
- Assist in planning open house events (2-3)
- Translate written and verbal communication to students and families (Portuguese and/or Haitian Creole)
SKILLS REQUIRED
- Proficient or fluent Portuguese and/or Haitian Creole language skills
- Strong communication skills, written and verbal
- Familiarity with Google Drive
- Experience working with high school youth and/or young adults
- Experience translating (written and verbal)
- Committed to values of diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Must agree to a CORI and SORI background check
- High school diploma or equivalent
