Pay Range: $12.00 – $15.00 per hour (commensurate with experience and certifications)

Job Summary

We are seeking a responsible and reliable Seasonal Lifeguard to ensure the safety of park guests in our swimming areas during the busy summer season. The ideal candidate will be a strong swimmer, possess valid CPR and First Aid certifications, and have a keen eye for recognizing and responding to potential hazards.

Key Responsibilities

- Monitor Swimming Areas: Oversee guests in and around the pool (and/or lake/pool deck) to prevent accidents, ensure safety protocols, and maintain a welcoming atmosphere.

- Enforce Rules and Regulations: Communicate and enforce all pool or swimming area rules, safety protocols, and park guidelines.

- Respond to Emergencies: Provide immediate, appropriate aid for any swimming or water-related emergencies, including performing rescues and administering first aid/CPR as needed.

- Maintain Safety Equipment: Inspect and maintain lifeguard equipment (including flotation devices, first aid kits, etc.) to ensure readiness at all times.

- Clean and Organize: Keep the pool area clean, free of hazards, and tidy for guests (e.g., arranging chairs, picking up trash, etc.).

- Record-Keeping: Accurately report and document incidents, maintenance issues, or other safety-related concerns.

- Guest Relations: Offer friendly assistance to visitors, answer questions, and maintain a positive, approachable demeanor at all times.

Qualifications

- Minimum Age Requirement: 16 years old

- Certifications:

- Current CPR certification (adult, child, and infant)

- Current First Aid certification

- Lifeguard certification (preferred but not always required; depends on local/state requirements; if required, specify here)

- Swimming Ability: Must be able to swim a minimum of 300 yards continuously.

- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand or sit for extended periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and perform water rescues as needed.

- Availability: Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays, throughout the summer season.

- Personal Attributes: Strong communication skills, attentiveness, quick reaction time, and a respectful, friendly attitude toward guests and colleagues.

Preferred Skills

- Prior experience as a lifeguard or in a related safety/security role

- Knowledge of pool maintenance or related recreational facility operations

- Familiarity with Eastland or the local community
