Description
The Development & Program Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting the growth and sustainability of Friends of Leaps & Bounds. This position is responsible for assisting with donor stewardship, managing merchandise, supporting community outreach and youth camp programs, and contributing to administrative operations.
The Development & Program Assistant also plays a key role in building and assisting with the volunteer program, helping to recruit, coordinate, and retain volunteers who support the organization’s mission. Responsibilities:
- Assist in the execution of donor stewardship programs, ensuring timely and meaningful interactions with donors
- Maintain accurate records of donor communications and contributions
- Support the planning and coordination of donor recognition events and activities
- Collaborate with marketing on inventory, sales, and distribution of Friends of Leaps & Bounds merchandise
- Develop strategies to increase merchandise visibility and sales alongside Marketing and Executive Director
- Collaborate with the marketing team to create promotional materials
- Develop, maintain, and grow youth camp programs and other youth programs in alignment with the organization’s mission
- Identify and coordinate opportunities for the organization to attend, table, or present at local community events
- Represent the organization at offsite events to promote programs and strengthen partnerships
- Assist in the coordination and growth of the volunteer program, helping recruit, onboard, and schedule volunteers
- Track volunteer engagement and help organize recognition opportunities and trainings
- Serve as a point of contact for volunteers, providing support and creating a welcoming environment
- Collaborate with Executive Director and leadership team to implement new initiatives and evaluate current programs
- Help collect data and feedback to assess program success and areas for improvement
- Provide administrative support to the Executive Director and senior staff
- Assist with scheduling, data entry, correspondence, and organizing materials for meetings
- Manage and update organizational records and databases
- Complete other duties as assigned to support the operations and mission of Friends of Leaps & Bounds
Requirements
- Experience in nonprofit development, event planning, or volunteer coordination
- Strong interpersonal and written communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines with attention to detail
- Familiarity with youth programming, merchandise sales, or CRM systems a plus
- A collaborative mindset with a proactive, team-player attitude
This position requires occasional evening and weekend hours to attend events and meetings, and will require local travel for community events and offsite outreach opportunities.
