Job description:
This is an exciting opportunity for skilled trades from any classification to join out Lear team in Traverse City. At this facility we perform high speed stamping, injection molding and automated assembly. We are a 1 trade maintenance team so this will give you the opportunity to expand your knowledge to all classification while teaching your expertise to apprentices. Our journeyman and vendor training will also work with and train you in other fields you may not be familiar with. This is a great opportunity for any skilled trades to expand their horizons as we expand ours.
As a maintenance journeyman you will perform duties anywhere from painting to troubleshooting equipment controls and everything in between. The maintenance journeyman will perform preventative maintenance, repairs during breakdowns and improvement projects to the equipment and building. You will use a computerized maintenance system to record and look up work activities. Perform all duties related to maintenance as required by supervisor
Job Requirements
This position requires a journeyman’s card from any trade, or a minimum of 8 years documented work experience.
Other requirements are based off the trade you hold a card or work experience in and will expand over time.
Ability to use read blueprints/schematics based on background
Computer skills – Computerized maintenance systems, office program
Hard working, reliable good communication skills.
Ability to follow written or verbal instruction with little supervision
Willing to learn and teach.
Must be familiar with lock out tagout procedures for stored energy of all types
Prefer candidates with background in LEAN or WCM but not necessarily required.
Work Conditions:
Environmental conditions from working in plant environment such as exposures to noise, oils and at times heat. Work is required both inside and outside so it can vary at times.
Exposure to stored energy
Lifting, walking, standing, stooping kneeling and crouching are required
Climbing of ladders and use of aerial devices are also necessary for some jobs.
