In complete collaboration with the University, this team is committed through first class professionalism to building top notch donor acquisition, cultivation, and stewardship extending the affinity of the University’s brand to fans, donors, alumni, businesses and corporations of all sizes looking to align with the undeniably loyal and passionate collegiate sports fan base.
Amplify WVU is actively seeking a Development Specialist to develop and manage philanthropic and annual giving initiatives for the University.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and manage philanthropic and annual giving based initiatives to generate new revenue.
- Develop relationships with new donors that could lead to Major Gifts to the Mountaineer Athletic Club.
- Cultivate, solicit, and steward prospect bases for annual fundraising campaign.
- Heavy focus on philanthropic giving, prospecting for leads and setting appointments.
- Provide support for special events, receptions and reunions designed to create/raise awareness of WVU Athletics.
- Communicate with donors by phone, mail, and email as appropriate relating to privately supported funds.
- Identifies potential donors by examining past records; identifying individuals, agencies and foundations; establishing personal networks with active and potential donors.
- Network at various community and corporate events including business after-hours, clinics, speaker series, etc.
- Achieve and exceed weekly, monthly, and annual revenue goals established by management.
- Achieve and exceed weekly activity and hustle metrics.
- Provide superior customer service to clients throughout the season.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- Minimum of one (1) year’ experience working in sales or development with collegiate and/or pro sports team
- Superior communication skills, collaborative with strong leadership and interpersonal skills
- Highest level of personal and professional integrity and ethics with strong customer service skills
- Demonstrate a proven track record in sales and building quality relationships
- Strong desire to learn about our business and grow your professional career
- Effectively express ideas verbally and in writing
- Independently take action beyond what is called for
- Be able to generate original and imaginative solutions to business opportunities
- Experience working with CRM systems such as ACT, Salesforce.com, Microsoft CRM, etc
- Willingness and ability to work long hours, including holidays and weekends as required
