Design Engineer L1
Location: Raymond, OH
Duration: Long term contract
Responsibilities:
Work in CATIA V5/V6 to design and model fixturing for holding vehicle parts during processes such as welding, painting, assembly, and testing.
Understand body part construction, datums, and weld information to incorporate into fixture design.
Perform layout checks with all users involved to confirm fixtures meet all requirements.
Export 3D/2D data and outsource to suppliers for quotes and ordering.
Research ways to improve fixturing or processes.
Support any other requests for fixturing, test equipment, or prototyping needs within the company.
Support development groups such as Interior Design by creating data for evaluation models.
Assist Aerodynamic teams by designing wind tunnel test models.
Qualifications/Experience/Skills:
BS degree in science/engineering preferred or equivalent.
Minimum of 3 years of related design work experience.
Advanced operation of CATIA V5/V6.
High attention to detail.
Excellent communication skills.
Strong problem-solving skills.
Knowledge of vehicle construction/assembly.
Proficiency in Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing.
Basic electrical and mechanical skills.
Proficient with Microsoft Office software (Teams, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word).
