Job Overview: We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Full-Time Traveling Music Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a love for music, excellent teaching skills, and the flexibility to travel to different locations for in-person lessons and events. This role will involve not only teaching music to students of all ages and abilities but also preparing teaching materials, maintaining and repairing musical instruments, and managing the transportation of materials to various locations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Music Instruction:
- Teach music lessons to students of all ages, from beginners to advanced, in various settings (schools, community centers, private homes, etc.).
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons tailored to individual students’ needs and interests.
- Provide students with a thorough understanding of musical theory, technique, and performance.
- Foster a positive, encouraging, and motivating learning environment for students.
- Teaching Material Preparation:
- Prepare curriculum books, worksheets, and other educational materials for each class or camp.
- Regularly assess students’ progress and adapt teaching methods accordingly.
- Instrument Repair and Maintenance:
- Perform basic repairs and maintenance on musical instruments (e.g., keyboard, guitar, violin, snare drum, drum pad and ukulele)
- Regularly check and ensure all instruments are in good working order before and after groups and camps.
- Coordinate with staff for specialized repairs if necessary.
- Transportation of Materials:
- Safely transport teaching materials and musical instruments to various lesson locations.
- Organize and manage the logistics of picking up and dropping off materials, ensuring they are available for each group or camp.
- Keep inventory of all musical instruments, lesson materials, and resources, ensuring everything is accounted for and maintained properly.
- Administrative Tasks:
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and lesson plans.
- Communicate with staff regarding student progress and scheduling.
- Handle any necessary administrative tasks related to travel, lesson scheduling, and equipment maintenance.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a music teacher, with a deep understanding of music theory and pedagogy.
- Strong knowledge and experience in repairing and maintaining musical instruments.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Ability to travel to different locations on a regular basis and manage the logistics of transporting materials.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work with students, parents, and other staff members.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Degree or certification in Music Education or related field is preferred but not required.
- Passion for teaching and working with students of all ages and skill levels.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in teaching a variety of musical instruments.
- Ability to adapt to different teaching environments and student needs.
- Basic knowledge of music technology and digital resources for teaching purposes.
Compensation:
- Competitive salary based on experience.
