    LEARN, Southeastern Connecticut's Regional Educational Service Center, invites candidates to apply for a full-time Technology Teacher opening at our Regional Multicultural Magnet School in New London, Connecticut.

    General Scope of Responsibilities
    The Technology Teacher is responsible for student learning in their classroom.

    Relationship within the Organization
    The Technology Teacher reports to the Principal of the Regional Multicultural Magnet School.

    Responsibilities
    • Teach foundational computer science concepts to K-8 students, ensuring a strong understanding of computing principles.
    • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that integrate introductory robotics design and programming.
    • Introduce students to basic engineering principles through hands-on activities and real-world problem-solving exercises.
    • Instruct students in basic coding using programming languages and tools such as Scratch, Blockly, or Python.
    • Facilitate hands-on learning experiences, including robotics projects and coding workshops, to develop students' problem-solving, critical thinking, and technical skills.
    • Incorporate the use of various technologies, such as programming languages, software applications, and robotics kits, to enhance the learning experience.
    • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay up to date with the latest advancements in computer science and robotics education.
    • Serve as a mentor and coach to help students explore their interests in STEM fields.
    • Provide instruction so that students can successfully use software and applications like Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Canva, and others to promote digital literacy and creativity.
    • Design and facilitate project-based learning opportunities that encourage critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving.
    • Encourage students to work in teams to develop solutions to real-world problems through technology.
    • Create opportunities for students to apply their knowledge and skills to real-world scenarios, fostering innovation and creativity.
    • Lead and develop an engaging eSports program, teaching students the basics of competitive gaming, team building, and strategy.
    • Oversee and manage the school's technology-related clubs, ensuring students are motivated and inspired to explore their interests in tech and gaming.
    • Organize school events, tournaments, and competitions related to eSports and other tech-driven activities.
    • Cultivate an environment that encourages questioning, exploration, and experimentation.
    • Foster critical thinking by challenging students with problems that require creative solutions and analytical thinking.
    • Adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse learning styles and abilities of students.
    • Encourage student participation in technology-related school events and competitions.
    • Build positive relationships with students and provide individual support as needed.
    • Work cooperatively with staff, parents, colleagues, and administrators.
    • Follow accepted curriculum guidelines and utilize recommended curriculum resources.
    • Encourage students to work to the best of their abilities and to take pride in their achievements.
    • Create an atmosphere conducive to the development of confidence and respect for teachers and students.
    • Establish criteria for and inform students of the basis of assessment.
    • Promote self-awareness, self-respect, appropriate behavior, and responsibility.
    • Provide a stimulating environment in which students learn and interact.
    • Assess and evaluate student learning on an ongoing basis.
    • Maintain professional attitude in working with others.
    • Effectively manage student behavior.
    • Participate in and contribute to school programs, projects, and professional activities.
    • Follow recordkeeping, documentation, and reporting guidelines.
    • Communicate pertinent information related to self, student, program, and agency.
    • Model appropriate social skills and behaviors.
    • Support program and agency goals.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
    Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements
    • Bachelor's degree and certification in appropriate area of instruction, Technology certification required.
    • Strong understanding of computer science principles, basic coding languages, and robotics design.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and other educational software tools (e.g., Canva, coding platforms).
    • Demonstrated ability to design and implement engaging lesson plans and projects that meet the developmental needs of K-8 students.
    • Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to adapt teaching methods to diverse learning needs and create an inclusive classroom environment.
    • Experience working with elementary aged children preferred.
