Our Head Start Preschool classroom is seeking an Assistant Teacher to join our teaching team!
As an Assistant Teacher you will:
- Assist in the development and delivery of lessons that are in accordance with the program’s curriculum
- Create positive, child-directed learning environments
- Observe and record an assessment of children’s growth, development, and behavior
- Work in a family atmosphere, as part of a team that goes above and beyond for each other and the children we serve
- Be a part of the classroom teaching team (Lead, Assistant, Aide and Floater Aide).
- Be willing to step into the role of Lead Teacher as needed for classroom coverage.
Salary: $18.76/hr. Hours per week: 35
Head Start Preschool position –Weeks per Year: 44 – will receive 21 hours of personal time your first day of hire and accrue paid sick time each pay period. School vacations and holidays are paid time off!
Qualifications:
- A Valid driver’s license.
- An understanding of young children and low-income families, and an appreciation of parents as the primary educators of their children.
Head Start Preschool Position:
- A minimum of an Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood, or a Preschool CDA or equivalent certification, and be trained in early childhood development with a focus on preschool development.
- At least one year of experience working with young children, preferably in an professional setting.
