Early Childhood Assistant/Float
Job Summary: The Assistant/Float of the Early Childhood Center for is responsible to assist the Center Director and assigned classroom Teacher to provide a high quality early learning environment for children from infants to entry into kindergarten.

Job Summary: The Assistant/Float of the Early Childhood Center for is responsible to assist the Center Director and assigned classroom Teacher to provide a high quality early learning environment for children from infants to entry into kindergarten.
Essential Functions:
- Assist Teacher as directed to implement agency-approved curriculum to provide high quality educational experience for children
- Prepare materials for lessons as requested by assigned classroom Teacher
- Assist Teacher to maintain orderly, clean and stimulating classroom environment as per Pinellas County Licensing Board and Center Accreditation guidelines
- Collaborate and coordinate with assigned classroom Teacher to:
- Maintain appropriate supervision of children in assigned classroom at all times
- Care for ill/injured children and document actions as per agency guidelines
- Post and maintain a daily schedule as agreed upon with Center Director
- Direct clean-up activities of children and instruct them in good hygiene practices
- Administer appropriate behavioral guidance to children in assigned classroom as per agency guidelines using the Conscious Discipline program
- Maintain confidentiality of all information pertaining to students and families
- Notify Teacher and/or Center Director of concerns regarding a student
- Assist Food & Safety Coordinator to serve meals and snacks
- Assist adult family members of students as requested by Center Director or assigned Teacher
- Assist Teacher to keep accurate records and files as required by agency policy, licensing requirements, and contracting agencies
- Attend training sessions, conferences and staff meetings which foster personal growth and/or are required by the Agency, Licensing Board or contracting agencies
- Maintain accreditations, licenses, and renewals
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor
Supervision Received/Exercised: Reports to Center Director. No supervisory duties.
Decision Making: Limited to those needed to carry out assigned duties.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Minimum High School Diploma, plus Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential, or Florida Child Care Professional Credential (FCCPC) / Early Childhood Professional Certificate (ECPC) and willing to obtain a Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential
- OEL School Readiness pre-service training completed (or willing to complete within 90 days of hire).
- 45 Clock Hours DCF required Training (or willing to obtain in first six months of employment)
- Fluent in English
- Ability to lift and carry 35 pounds and in an emergency pick up a 40 pound child.
- Physical ability to extend arms overhead, grasp with hands, stand, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, walk, sit on floor.
- Clean Level II Background Check (conducted by agency upon hire) maintained throughout employment
- Current First Aid/CPR, including Infant and Child CPR, or willing to obtain upon hire
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, to a diverse audience of volunteers and clients
- Ability to use computer software applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, Email client, Internet) in a Windows environment to communicate and maintain records
- Ability to maintain professional boundaries with regard to agency programs, staff, volunteers and participants
- Ability to maintain and protect confidential information with regard to agency programs, staff, volunteers and participants
- Ability to create an environment where children, parents, staff and volunteers are welcomed and affirmed
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends to best meet the needs of enrolled students

Hours: Full Time, 40 hours per week, year-round
