Title: Behavior Intervention Specialist
Behavior Intervention Specialist (bachelor level) - $25.30/hour
Behavior Intervention Professional (master level) - $34.50/hour
Supervisor: Clinical Supervisor/Developmental Specialist
Duties:
- Using information from the family-centered planning process, develop an individualized therapeutic intervention plan in accordance with IDAPA rules and
Medicaid guidelines.
- Provide Behavior Intervention therapy and developmental education and/or therapy to children in a mix of 1:1 teaching, preschool classroom, home and community settings, as outlined in the child’s therapy plan.
- Communicate with team members including parents on a daily basis as to the progress and needs of the client to ensure continuity of practice and generalization of skills across settings.
- Supervise and train paraprofessional staff to implement therapy plan.
- Maintain accurate records of each child’s performance and time spent on each therapy service.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education:
- At least a bachelor’s degree in a health, human services, educational, behavioral science, or counseling field from a nationally accredited university.
- Must either hold a current Habilitative Intervention certification or be able to be certified through meeting the education, experience and other requirements noted below.
Experience:
- Must have at least one (1) year supervised experience working with children with developmental disabilities.
- The experience must include a minimum of one thousand forty (1040) hours of direct contact or care of individuals 0-21 who demonstrate functional or behavioral needs.
Qualifications:
- Must have successfully completed a 40-hour Registered Behavior Technician
(RBT) course in the last year or be willing to complete this course.
- Must be able to function as a team member.
- Must be able to keep accurate and timely records.
- Must have excellent communication skills.
- Ability to set priorities, use good judgment, problem solve, and accomplish tasks on time.
- Ability to maintain professional boundaries with students and families.
Other Requirements:
- May be exposed to bodily fluids from children.
- Background checks are required by the Department of Health and Welfare. Must comply with company policies regarding health and safety, dress, protection of client privacy, professional conduct and performance of services.
- Must secure and maintain First Aid and CPR certification.
- Will to have need a valid driver’s license and be able to safely operate a motor vehicle, car insurance and reliable transportation.
- Must be comfortable with technology and digital record keeping.
- Should be able to sit, stand, walk, drive, kneel, crawl, squat, twist and climb stairs. Lift up to 35 pounds, carry 35 pounds over a 5-foot distance.
