Overview of the early childhood substitute teacher role:
Youre here when we need you most. While your classroom location may vary, your commitment to our quality standards and positive relationships with our children, families, and other team members remains the same each day.

Our early childhood substitute teachers plug in on learning activities, meal time, nap time, and help with breaks for teachers.

What we need from you:
Weve built the beautiful, home-like classrooms. We need substitute teachers who keep the environment clean, safe, and stimulating, using the Constructivist Theory (were happy to help you learn more about this if you join our classroom).

This might be a given, but our teachers should have a positive nature and be flexible, and know that we work best as a team. We lean into social emotional learning and child-lead play, using positive redirection.

Youre as committed to equity, diversity, and inclusivity as we are. You show respect for every child, the people in their lives, and for your team members.

Youre also able to keep confidential information about the program, families, children, staff and the agency.

What we can do for you as a substitute teacher:
We want you to be successful in your classroom, so we will help guide you to required training and educational credentials as needed.

Minimum education, experience and other skill requirements for substitute teachers:

Minimum of a High School Diploma/GED, CDA, or in process of obtaining a degree

Prior experience working with young children and the ability to manage classroom through positive redirection, problem solving, setting appropriate limits, and active listening.

Completion of State Approved Orientation for Child Care Providers with implementation on a daily basis with support as needed from the Director/Assistant Director
