Job Description

The Director demonstrates leadership abilities by creating and maintaining a positive learning environment for all families enrolled. The Director assists the Owner in operating the center in accordance with Maryland’s OCC policies, procedures and state licensing standards to provide an educational, nurturing, and safe environment for children, staff and parents. This individual is responsible for all center operations and assumes all Director responsibilities and duties. Meets expectations for delivering exceptional customer service to families enrolled at the center.
Minimum Requirements:
· High school diploma, certificate of high school equivalency, or Successful completion of college courses for credit
· Computer literacy and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite is preferred
· Completed at least two (2) full years of experience working under supervision primarily with preschoolers in a licensed child care center, nursery school, church-operated school, or similar setting.
· 6 semester, 90 clock hours or the equivalent of approved early childhood coursework (45 hours’ child development and 45 hours curriculum planning), or Hold the Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential issued by the Council for Professional Recognition, or Approved by the Maryland State Department of Education as a teacher for Nursery – Grade 3, or Hold a teaching certificate from the MSDE or another state for Nursery – Grade 3
Additional Requirements (Maryland Office of Child Care):
21 years of age At least 9 clock hours of approved training in communicating with staff, parents and the public, And 40-45 clock hours or the equivalent of approved administrative training, If infants and toddlers are enrolled, have completed 45 clock hour or the equivalent of approved coursework, and approved training in supporting breastfeeding practices. 3 clock hours in ADA Compliance and Within 6 months after date of hire, and complete a regulation training.
Mandatory Requirement:
The applicant must get health screenings, and undergo background checks for FBI and State criminal histories in addition to child abuse and neglect clearances.
Qualifications:
· Fulfills all record-keeping responsibilities
· Conducts tours and provide interested families with information about our program
· Plans and coordinates field trips
· Plans, manage, market, and direct a childcare program.
· Teach and monitor children when needed.
· Maintain center paperwork, keeping files on each child and proof of meeting government regulations.
· Supervise and evaluate teachers, provide mentoring and training to help teachers improve their skills.
· Work with teachers to establish, evaluate, and revise curriculum.
· Implements and supervises staff members with company policies and procedures
· Supervises closing staff and ensures building is secure at the end of each day
· Complies with, and may implement, OCC regulations regarding the care of children
· Assist teachers with managing behavior problems
· Order and keep inventory of school supplies
· Keeps the Owner informed of any necessary information regarding the care and safety of children
· Assists and accepts responsibility in other daily center duties that might be temporary in the event other personnel are not available
· Attends and participates in staff meetings, center events, and parent/customer meetings as requested
